Flight 93 Trailer

Flight 93 Teaser

The teaser for 'Flight 93', the movie being made about United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania on September 11th. I think it'll be a good movie, just as long as it honours the memories of those who died on the flight and isn't treated like a way to grab money.

Hmm...none of the actors look familiar. (IMDB page)

I don't know what to think of this. We lived through it, does there have to be a movie so soon? Maybe a documentary on the history channel, but a movie? It seems distasteful, I mean, making money off a national tragedy? Sadly enough, that's the American way.

I don't know if people would really want to see it. I mean, we know what happened, we saw it on the news for the past (almost) 4 1/2 years. It's too depressing. :| I cried just watching the teaser.

It's smurfing (self censored) Hollywood, of course its purpose is to make money. It disturbs and disgusts me this is how they chose to promote more income.

What happened was a national tradgedy that touched many people, including me. And the fact that film makers would make this movie (and it's not like some biography, so yes, it is for entertainment) is so incredibly disgusting that my feelings for it can't be put into meer words.

EDIT: And after watching the trailer, I am more disgusted. The thing is advertised as a THRILLER. Not something in which THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIED. Just some THRILLING MOVIE.

Actually, I think TLC, Discovery, or History already made a documentary about this event. It was aired last September. Since I don't know which channel made it or when it will air again, I recommend check each of their pages to find it if you are interested. It got great critc reviews and even family members of passengers helped out as much as possible and said it was a good tribute. Keep in mind I am basing a lot off of the commercials and previews which are natually biased toward the program.

Like Crash (about people who get off on Car crashes...) i imagine this shall go down in history.
As a box office hit ¬_¬

Well, it's not as though making films about recent tragedies is a new phenomenon. There were films about Pearl Harbor made during WWII, after all.

Still...I don't intend to see this. The documentary Skynetmain mentioned was good (can't remember which channel either), but this looks less respectful. I mean...a thriller?

Where do you guys see Thriller?

I see it only listed as Drama on its IMDB page.

I think it's horrible that people want to make money off of this. I cried during the trailer. I can't even express my disgust for the people who are making this in words.

Did you guys know there is another movie in the works about September 11?

Its going to be called "September" and its going to be directed by Oliver Stone.

It's going to star Maria Bello, Nic Cage, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0469641/

We all knew this was inevitable. But it has people asking "Is it too soon?"

Look at the other movies they made from disasters :

Schindlers List (Holocaust)
Pearl Harbor (WWII)
Titanic
Munich
Hotel Rwanda
Black Hawk Down
+Countless others

P.S - I hear they are in the works for a Tsunami movie also.

But that movie's about the last 2 people to be pulled from the rubble of 9/11. They have the permission of the 2 people who were the last pulled out tpo make it, and they said it's OK.

And yea, there was a documentary. It was on C5 in the UK on January 5th. And it was good. But, I think that this movie has the potential to be something great that will give a good idea of what happened on the plane too. They have full consent from the families and friends of those who died on the plane too.

It's obviously a thriller if you, you know, watch the trailer.

It doesn't look like a thriller to me. And a trailer can make a film look like anything. An example? In the jokes thread, there's a trailer that makes 'The Shining' look like a Rom-Com. And if you've seen the real movie, you'll know it ain't no rom-com.

Well, I don't know what to say about this movie. I mean, there has been countless movies made on tragedies like this such as "Titanic" and "Pearl Harbour" so why should we treat this movie any different?

But I am a bit unsettled as to how they made the trailer, I mean, at least Titanic and Pearl Harbour tried to tell a story -- this movie made it look like a creepy, adventure with all the phonecalls and ugh, I don't know. I'm definately not watching this one.

I wouldn't call this a thriller, more like an action-adventure.

Oh. And I just have to say that if they bend the truth at all (like they do when basing things off books, etc, not sure about historical events), believe me when I say there will be such great Hell to pay.

That's the thing. It's a Teaser Trailer. It's not supposed to give you too much information about the movie, just enough to make you want to go and see it. And I've read that it's been filmed on handheld cameras, so it doesn't feel to glitzy.
