The big screen and the small screen... together at last! Hurrah!

Which episode is it where Lister and Cat are filming themselves upside down with one of Kryties eyes on their chins, telling an alien about how they hate humans?

I believe it is Gunmen of the Apocalypse from Series 6
Is that not right, Bhindi Bhaji? Hee, Red Dwarf love

They've been talking about the movie for at least 10 years. I met Rob Grant just after 2nd series and they were talking about it then

Yea, like I said, making. They have a script (sort of). And the cast are commited. And by commited, I mean that Craig Charles ran off and joined Corrie.

I love Red Dwarf too! I really hope they do get to continue/finish the movie one day...
I remember that episode, though I haven't seen it in ages. I've got seasons 1-4 on DVD and it's not in any of those, if that helps
<random> I really really love the tongue tied song... it really gets stuck in my head! </random>

I have series 1 - 6 on DVD and getting 7 on Monday
About the movie - Craig Charles in in Corrie, but isn't Rimmer filming Tomb Raider 3?

Sounds like it is Gunmen of the Apocalypse, I don't have series six, unfortunately, but it'd be my best guess.
Really I just wanted to comment that considering series seven and eight were, well not great are you really sure that the movie is such a good idea?
I'll watch it an all, but remember the Blackadder millenium thingy? Some things should just be left as they are.
Argh and I've just remembered there was that one episode in I think series seven when they spent the first ten minutes going over the previous episode.
Bring back the mid nineties I say *hint* my avatar *hint*

My fave episode is either Polymorph, or the one with Mr. Flibble

REDDWARF! The old PEP Band director has the entire DVD set. That + Ren & Stimpy + ATHF = a whole night of really wierd TV with equally wierd friends

Quite fond of it, though prefer earlier series.
When Holly was a woman, that's where it went downhill for me...and with Kochanski back. Pfft.
Apparently Craig Charles is horrible to work with.

*agrees* Bringing Kochanski back permanently was generally a bad idea. There were some good-ish episodes in Series 7/8, but it was more like a run-of-the-mill sitcom and less like the Red Dwarf of old. I preferred the male Holly*, though Hattie had her moments ("rude alert!"). For me the whole thing peaked around series 5 - Quarantine and Back To Reality are as near perfection as Red Dwarf ever got. I think a film
could work if done right though judging by the quality of the abortive US series maybe it would be best if it doesn't happen
(I wouldn't worry about the delay... look how long it was before they finally made the H2G2 film - over twenty years after the first radio play?)
As for Craig Charles, Igg, I wondered why he doesn't appear on any of the cast commentaries on the two series DVDs I've got... if he's horrible to work with then that explains it
* Whoever came up with the idea of that Barclays commercial with Norman Lovett doing the voice of that megalomaniac robotic financial advisor thing is an absolute genius.

I've only been told this by someone who used to work in production at the BBC, or something similar. Said he was really rude. Don't know what he's like with co-stars, but I trust the guy who said it to me.

Mm... I heard that he went to jail at some point. I don't really know the details though *feels bad speculating*

I still remember Rob Grant saying one time that the US had wanted to make the series over there.
But, they didn't like the Cat, cos no-one would understand him, they didn't want Rimmer and Kryten, cos Star trek had sone them better, and they wanted to set it on earth because there were too many programmes set in space.
Then they walked out laughing
