It sounds like the australia concert" Australia united"". All 3 comericial t.v channels united and decided to organise a concert that would be broadcast on all of the 3 channels and all proceds went to wrold vision. During the night you could ring up and donate and you got to speak to a celebrety. My dad spoke to some celebrity but i didnt have a clue who it was nor did he\
EDIT: I forgot to say they raised over 20 million dollars from that night

You know...I don't usually watch concerts but I live in a house full of Groban fanatics and I've liked Gloria Estefan since I was in diapers.
And Elton John too! Rock on!
I think I'll try and encourage my family to sit and watch this since it sounds like there's a little of something we'd all enjoy.

That's what I was thinking. The Australian one was a huge success, it was great seeing people from all three networks. Plus, the Rove/Bert thing was hilarious!
If it's anything like the Australian one, it should be awesome

Australia are addicted to telethons though!
I imagine this will be another one of those things that you know is for a good cause but still brings a slight wave of nausea over you as you view it.

Oh man this seems so cool
. I'll probably watch it (except for the part when George Bush Sr. talks *cough* but I won't get into that)

Heh, something like that has already been done here. I went there, ir was neat. ^_^
I wish I could see this one.
Donations made during the live special are tax deductible on 2004 returns.
What does that mean?

Ooooh Eric Clapton *hums Layla*
We had Live Aid/Band Aid to help the poverty in Africa. Heh, the Prime Minister at that time (Maggie Thatcher) wanted to take tax off the money raised but Bob Geldof had an arguement with her and people went mad and eventually she didn't.

We had live aid in the US in the 1980's, too. I think the US and Europe each had a concert at the same time.
I doubt I am going to watch it, specially since so far I have not heard any bands that I like are going to be at the concert.

Yay Gloria Estefan's on right now!
Much better artists this time around then there was on during the 9/11 concert. That one just kinda weirded me out o_o
Edit: I thought of you when Josh sang Med Med. I wish he would have sang something else though...that song makes me and my mom cry

I'm watching it right now... Josh Groban(sp?) is on right now.
Man... those before and after pics of the coastlines are just... wow.
Wonder how many sick people who don't intend to donate anything are calling in just to see if they get to talk to one of the stars.

9/11 was also nothing compared to the tsunami if you look at loss of human life.

thoese pictures are pretty amazing.
My dad brought up a good point...people all over the world are homeless and are without clean water and their family members have died. Why not donate money to them?
