The big screen and the small screen... together at last! Hurrah!

Yet another shameless guilty pleasure of mine. Although in the past two seasons, my favorite contestant has placed second (gah, Diana, it makes me mad!) but I really like Kelly, she deserved to win.
Okay already getting a bit off topic. The new AI starts soon on Fox! I was thinking we could use this thread to talk about all things Idol!

I dunno if I'll watch this season. Last season was kind of disappointing for me.
I mean, of COURSE I'll watch the first few episodes so I can cringe at all the awful singers, but after they choose their (20? 30? I can't remember what the first number is) final contestants, I'll probably lose interest.
But so help me, if there's another William Hung sensation this season, I'm going to murder everyone at Fox. I swear.

Ditto. I watch the auditions. I have never watched a full season because of other things I had to do. But I plan to watch this one.
And even though William Hung is a bad singer, he and Jackie Chan did a concert and rasied 6 million dollars for Tsunami relief.

I know I'm not watching it this year... at times I want to, but I just.. can't. The way they make fun of people (Keith, William) and the way the judges beat on people.. I can't take it again.

They have to be honest. Medli think about. You can't be like "Oh I guess you have some talent. Come right in!". You have to be strict and firm. And sometimes they can be rude but it's to filter out the good from the bad.

Gotta be cruel to be kind. The rubbish ones genuinely think they're good so are the judges meant to let them make fools of themselves time and time again? Best to let them know the truth.

I'll watch it in hopes of it being a good season. Last season was disappointing though.
I really wish they would allow groups, bands, duos, trios, etc.... would make it alot more interesting than just seeing one person up on stage singing their slow boring song, or trying to sing some old nobody-knows-it song week after week.

I really hopes someone sings Evanescence. I have never seen a person sing Evanescence.

Ooh..I love American Idol..Clay and Diana should have won!!
OK*deep breath*
They have some really bad singers..that think they're sooooo great. It's actually funny,sometimes......I like it when they go out in public and try to find people that like their singing..
My mom said she saw a preview with Simon saying I'd ban you from the shower.

I know, but telling people they're the worst singers on earth is uncalled for.

Some AI news I caught on Acess Hollywood tonight:
1. The age restriction for people auditioning has been raised.
2. Starting in Feb. American Idol will air 3 times a week. Quote Ryan "Out" Sechrist, "the appetite is there."
3. There will be a boys vs. girls round to ensure a gender balanced final 12.

Gender balanced final 12? What the crap is that. If someone can sing who the crud cares what gender they are.
What a load of bull.
Anywho...I saw the thing where they said they raised the age to 28? i think it was.
I think they should just go with 30. It's not like being 30 is the end of all if you want to be famous or something.

i have a feeling that if they raised the age, it would probably be something like 18 or 21.
they want young pop singers, which dont work if the young pop singer is old.

But some are the worst singers in the world. Like the guy who had a very high voice and actually thought he was good. Also that guy who called himself the next Clay Aiken had a BAD voice.

Yeah I think you're right. I remember 28 as the new age too. Sechrist said the reason was so that Simon won't have to say "go home and practice for a couple of years" to the 18 year olds anymore.
