Bring Back Stock Market Topics

Wed Aug 04, 2004 5:19 am

Remember the magical days where one could wander inside this forum and discuss matters of the stock market?

This topic, BBSMT if you like shorthand, is about bringing back those days. Latest Neopian statistics show an estimated 50% of people don't know what the Neopets Stock Market is. It's rather simple, really.

You can buy a share, or a portion, of a company. The better the company does, the more your share is worth. You can buy up to 1000 shares per day.

Buy low, sell high. The lowest you may buy a stock is 15NP, so try to invest in the 15NP-18NP range. Be patient. FISH used to be 15NP, but it skyrocketed and its price went up in the hundreds.

Stocks go up or down randomly, usually in little bits per day. When you want to cash out, go to the sell page. Nigel the Chia stock broker takes 20NP from you for every sell you make. If your stock falls after you've purchased it, don't sell immediately. It can eventually go up again. Volume, competition, and current events in the news do not affect stock price. As I have said before, it's mostly random.

To find out how much money you've made, take the amount of shares you invested times the original price and subtract that from the amount of shares you invested times the current price.

Um...I think that's everything.

Anyway, I invested 1000 shares in NAKR yesterday at midnight NST, when it was 15NP/share, and now it's 19NP/shares! 4,000NP easy! I'm staying with it. I haven't seen many stocks go up 4NP/share in one day and it looks like signs of a skyrocketing.

I agree with you about not many people playing the stock market. I play it, honestly, it is the best way to make money for me. I'm appraching the 1 million np mark for the first time and I would say that about 500k of that is from the market. But there usually isn't much to talk about. Once you get the hang of how to play, it is so simple that there really isn't much to say. It is probably because the market is more of a patience game than anything else.

So yeah... If anyone doesn't know how to play the market and wants to make money, you can post here or just go to Neodaq.com. That's how I learned.

I play ;) It really is simple, althuogh I never buy for anything but 15 so I have to wait a little longer for things to rise or fall before I can actually buy. I never sell until over 25 and so far I have over 250K in stock and I've sold 3000 shares for over 65% profit. It's not hard, just take patience, and the ability to feel comfortable tying your nps up.

There's always the short ride, buy something today, watch it rise +4 within a day or so, and do a quick sell.
