I dunno. With how I've heard of lots of people getting frozen for no reason, them pretty much being taken over by the advertising part, and the plots getting scrapped, those point to yes. But there are things being done that are keeping the site good. While to some the new pets might just seem like some crappy thing to keep people in, I actually enjoy it. There's also the work they've done to improve the site, such as making it so you can choose themed toolbars that change how the site reacts to you, making the site faster, and the new games that rock (I've actually been playing the newer games for fun even though my account is frozen) all point to no. So, it's sorta undecided. They just need to finish what they start (continue the maraqua and sloth plots after they do ice caves. Adam, are you listening?), and redo their freezing system (I'm working on an idea to submit them. Maybe something like real court systems where you can be fined or temporarily frozen?), and Neopets will be much better.

At least the site doesn't crash every two hours. Good with the bad, why not?

Yes it is good that it isn't crashing everyday but it seems like they have moved there audience more tward 8 and under now, it just isn't as intresting anymore all I do now is go on, check the news, do my dailys, maybe go to the boards, then leave.

I say yes. It's falling somewhat slowly, but still falling. It's getting to be like another Pokemon, in my opinion. A lot of people loved it but then it just overpopulated. Neopets was great in the beginning. I mean sure, they didn't have nearly as much, they didn't have good, or even really that decent of pictures, but it was still fun. It was great just the way it used to be.

I'd probably say yes, with the influx of thousands of new members I feel that the customer service level seems to be dropping gradually. That coupled with the promises of various things (Neoschools, plots, etc) that don't seem to be going anywhere fast or that are cancelled, it just seems that everything is put on the back-burner. To pick-up on something Kitten Medli said, they may only be human but that doesn't eliminate the fact that the site may well be going downhill, its only an excuse or reason. Having said that, I think a number of members of Neopets are also dragging it downhill, the dishonesty and everything going on nowadays makes Neopets a really unhappy place to be at times.

Neopets is being taken over by advertisements. That new upper banner is advertising things that have nothing to do with anything. I mean really...advertising deodorant!?!?!?!? Yeah, it's not in the banner, but it's on the other box and it's a game, but that's just weird. Plus with the new premium accounts, the people who actually pay for an account get an advantage. I remember when they were saying that you should sign up for sponsorers that way there wouldn't be pop ads. I think the new banner can actually be worse because you can't get rid of it and still stay on the site. Neopets is becoming this big commercial place. I think it's popularity and everything will eventually drive out old members who liked the old neopets better and will be taken over by the new ones. Also, has anyone else noticed that they took neoschools off the "coming soon?"
In conclusion: neopets is going downhill, in a good/bad way. Good for them, bad for us. More profit for them, more advertisements and other annoying things for us.

Sadly, yes. Slowly they are going downhill and nothing will stop them from shutting down completely. Their older players are leaving, the sponsors are taking over the site, the freezing system is horrible and its hard for them to keep up with number of users. It's been better a year ago, I actually used to have fun, TNT wasn't so freeze happy and many awesome things were available to normal users like paint brushes, cool battledone wepons (anyone remember dark battle duck from the snow faerie?), many potions were cheap and some other really nice stuff. You many not notice it right now, but neo is already starting to go downhill, soon, maybe in a few years, the change will be big and everyone will see that neopets will not live for much longer.

I think it goes in phases. Sometimes it appears more downhill, sometimes it appears more uphill. I really can't say as of right now.

Nope. It's impossible to run a site that large and have anyone agree with you.

Well, I was quite certain it was heading towards a certain, cutesy glittery death a while back there. But lately there have been some good advances too (The Bori, which as not as Look! Disney! A bug's Life! as the Ruki, and somewhat cool, is one.) Hannah and the Ice caves (although somewhat of an Indiana Jones ripoff) is quite good... plus the Kougra isn't as stupid-cute as the vated-for one.

But still... Lupes are supposed to be COOL, dangit! And for... years... now they've disgraces the name of Gelert.

But I figure they're deciding their own fate right now, and if we don't give them support now they may plummet downhill completely.

They're only humans, they can't do everything perfectly. ANd I don't think they had much choice about the ad part. Maybe they're struggling to keep the site up and running... everything points to that. Why else would they be so geared towards profit? Maybe I'm just naiive, though. They have been much better recently, I think. :)

Downhill? Nahh... no way. Glitches, bugs and being frozen unfairly (and the lack of avatars being released! :o) aren't really their fault (except the avatars and the frozen unfairly), and about the ads - you can't blame them. They need to make their money too, doing a site like this isn't free nor cheap, and even with the merchandise, it's not like they really chose the ads. And anyway, was does it bother you? If you see an ad you don't like, just refresh.
