I think it would be cool if we could place bets on the outcome of fights in the battledome... two player only, of course 8)

It would certainly make me more interested in battling again. What do you think?

How can you bet if you are one of the two players? You could just pick any lousy pet to fight and bet that you will win. Or fight a stronger pet and bet that you will lose. It is too easy to be abused.

If you got Neopoints for winning battles, sure..but betting? Nah.

I don't like the idea though the IDB Forums lets you bet on your IDB Forums pet. Though you need a least 250.0 Boing (Boing is IDB Forums' currency)before you can even get a IDB Forums pet.

if you got neopoints off it you'd just bet on your friends and have set battles with predetermined winners. Or you could bet one majal_kita. either way, it'd just get abused

no, I meant that if you challenge a person, you bet a certain amount of neopoints, and if the other person accepts, the winner gets the np. (like the flash game challenges) and if a pet is a lot stronger than yours, you probably won't fight it anyway, so I can't see how it could be abused... the flash game challenges can't be abused, either..

But if you bet the money, then won't it be unfair? Even if you win, all you gain back is your own np. Maybe if both sides bet a same amount of np (for example 5k) and place it in a pool, then the winner gets it, may be more workable.

Why not? Aside it being easily abused, and the sorts that is. It'd be the users own fault for over betting on their pet if they lost, and avid BDers could actually make some income from it.

I dunno. Flash games betting is one thing. I think that there are so many special battledomers that it would be unfair. Also too easy to bet on 1 player games when yur strong. Maybe it would be too hard to reg.

Bad enough being beaten, but being beaten and robbed?

It can seem that way when a neopet with 3 hp goes up against yours with over 100, and you don't .. even .. get .. one .. hit

There are already fighters who delight in targeting inexperienced players in order to beat them, rather than battling opponents who come closer to matching their stats/weapons . . . we should add a financial incentive for them to do it more?

That wouldn't be good in 2 player either, 'cause then people would battle lousy pets or pets from a friend's account... but in 1 player, that would be good... -thinks of inflatable balthazar-

Good point. One player only then. :P Or maybe just Defenders of Neopia challenges. Only able to be paid for the challenger once, even?

But that wouldn't be much different than just winning NP for winning the fight.

I don't think they should make it something that you can wager money on, but I would like to see some kind of payment for winning a one player battle. Think of the millions that it costs to train a pet, it would be really nice to offset some of that cost.

I'm finally back for the summer, although hopefully I'll spend a little more time away from this screen.

Its an interesting idea, but TNT will probably never do it.

Good idea. The only way I could see this getting abused is if someone tricked a New Member into betting. But that is scamming so you could get frozen for it. But just put a maximum bet... like 50k or something.
