This is a draft of an article I've written on the relationship between PPT and TNT. It's just a draft, but I'd like to get opinions and corrections to it. It's short and shouldn't be too long a read.

I think you should avoid using words like "hate" (for example, in the sentence "And why do they hate us in the first place?"). I sincerely doubt anyone at TNT "hates" this site. Maybe they find some members annoying, sure, but "hate" is way too strong of a word.

Oh, and if you're going to mention Adam, you should also mention Donna, who posts here as "thyassa" (and has been nice).

What's this article for?

The staff member I spoke to seemed to really have something against PPT, so although not all of them may feel that way I don't think the word usage is entirely inappropriate.

I've never seen Donna here, which is why I didn't mention her.

And it's for the BCB, which is the full-article section of my fansite Borovan.com (that's where it's linked to).

It's a well-known fact that the Neopets Team and the PPT Forums are established rivals.

Rivals? Quite frankly I think we're getting along rather well of late.

Quote:
According to one staff member I've spoken to, it has to do with the fact that PPTers like to complain.

Which staff member?

Quote:
While much of it is not malicious, there are certian individuals who take it perhaps too far

I believe that PPT is a safe place for people to argue and to complain. No one is in danger of being warned or frozen here, and thats the whole point is it not? But PPT is far more then just a place to complain.

Quote:
And in return, PPT should show them that we are not of a hostile nature.

If TNT took a look at the rest of the site, then they'd realise. Yes GC can be horribly biased at times, but theres every reason too if you've lost an expensive item, NP or a pet to a glitch or thievery. If you honestly have been frozen unfairly you have every right to complain!
PPT also has a gallery, bet TNT don't look there.
PPT also has interesting discussions about movies, books, (anime; though I personally don't find that interesting). We have one whole BOARD dedicated to help people WE DON"T EVEN KNOW.

*shakes head* I'm sorry if I sound biased, but your article makes it sound like PPT does no good. And I feel that to be unfair towards us as a group.

You wanted constructive criticism, and I'm giving it to you. I'm a journalism school grad and I know what I'm talking about when it comes to writing articles. "Hate" means "to detest," and I strongly doubt anyone at TNT detests this site. If, however, this one staff member you spoke to does, you should avoid writing sentences like "why, then, is so much of the staff still bisased against PPT," "they have to get past the misconception that PPT is a spawning ground for little anti-staff minions" and, again, "why do they hate us." You haven't offered any proof that more than one staff member dislikes the site.

Also, what's the purpose of this article? At the end, you say "TNT's teasing should stay as just that--good-natured ribbing." So far it has -- do you expect that to change? What are you trying to accomplish?

Ahoteinrun, I don't see your point. What I was trying to say is that TNT needs to give us another look. In fact, the article was originally entitled, "In Defense of PPT".

Cranberry, the only direct source I had (actually physically speaking to a staff member) was Soup Faerie, and she said "we", which refers to TNT in general, unless she meant "me and my cat".

By the way, I know the meaning of the word "hate".

Sleep now. 11:26 PM. Read comments in morning.

To me your article didn't come off that way.
If you wanted the article to sound more positive towards PPT, I would think that showing off the good parts of PPT would be a better idea, rather then pointing out the complaints... continually.

The whole tone of the article to me is extremely negative towards PPT members, and that was my point.
I thought I made myself rather clear in my first post, but apparently I was not.

I wanted to make it clear why some members of staff had misconceptions about PPT, which I believe is because they think we complain about their work. I think what we do is perfectly reasonable, and I hope that they can get over their bias. I'm sorry if you misunderstood what I was trying to say.

I'm really going to sleep now.

Quote:
Because we are among the most well-informed and connected players of Neopets, we do often complain. But we also give credit where credit is due, and never complain without cause.

Quote:
Besides this, the Team actually owes PPT quite a bit.

Hm. Do you really think that the examples you gave in the first paragraph were out of malice? I thought it was all out of fun! Not out of "rivalry".

In fact... i thought the latest renaming of the PPT was a lil' "thank you" for all the help we gave to them. They actually CHANGED the description on it for us. (Right?)

I dunno... IMO, the tone of that entry is a bit... harsh (i suppose?) against them.

And yes, there are a few of us on PPT who are much too harsh on TNT... but what can you do? Its a forum... we can say what we want... (to a limit of course)

And yes Donna has come on around here as well :P

I probably missed her then--must have been on the old forums.
And the point of the editorial was to discuss weather they were out of fun, or a hint that we should shut up.

And I don't think we should shut up.

I also found the tone of the article really negative, both towards PPT and TNT. It's painting a picture of an antagonistic, hateful relationship that no one but you (and perhaps Soup Faerie) seems to see.

The new description of the pink poogle toy is a joke (someone pointed Adam and Donna to our thread about putting pink poogle toys in our shops, and that's when they changed the description).

Obviously you don't want constructive criticism; you've argued (sarcastically and passive-aggressively) with everything we've offered. If you think your article's great, just post it. Don't ask for advice.

And I'm sorry if I somehow insulted your intelligence by defining the word "hate" -- that wasn't my intention. I still do, however, think use of that word is unnecessary. And Soup faerie saying "we" isn't enough proof that "the team" in general dislikes this site, in my opinion.

FYI: Donna posts are in the Nov. 2 news thread, here.

I think you're missing my point.
My point... to be BLUNT
is that maybe you should focus MORE on the good of PPT, rather then the negative that the team perceives.
You're not going to change any minds if all you talk about is the complaints and add in a few general comments here and there.

Quote:
Therefore, I hope that TNT and PPT can come to an understanding. It shouldn't be too difficult. TNT's teasing should stay as just that--good-natured ribbing. And in return, PPT should show them that we are not of a hostile nature. We have better things to do with our time than insult the Neopets Team--namely, give their sponsors pageviews. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go glue down my F5 key.

I think it's mainly this last paragraph that sets me off about the article. Since i'm just finishing (well four pages to go) writing up a term paper, I don't think that ending off on such a negative note is a good idea. Thats hardly the conception that I think you want for your article.
But hey, thats just my opinion.

I personally think you're sort of rocking the boat here. I mean, we just got over all those nasty rumors that hate-mongering anti-PPTers were spreading about this place, and we're finally back in the swing of things with the forum, and Adam is listening to what we have to say. And now, with your article, it seems like you're trying to stir up bad feelings again with TNT. I don't think they hate us at all, and like Inrun and Cranberry have said, one staff member saying she hates us certainly can't speak for the rest of the staff. If they hated us, Adam, Donna, and Snarkie wouldn't hang out here, would they?

If TNT disliked PPT they probably would have shut down this fansite :P

"It's a well-known fact that the Neopets Team and the PPT Forums are established rivals."

I read the first sentence and didn't bring myself to the rest. Not when the opening sentence is a pure, flat-out lie, in my opinion.
