I highly doubt that it's that. Perhaps it's just coincidence. Or perhaps neopets has really sold out.

Nevertheless, download these programs to clean up your computer:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html - Spybot Search and Destroy
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ - Ad-aware

Both of these are great programs!

Are these ads targeted by country? Because I've never seen a weather one, and I've just refreshed for ages trying to get it..

Is the weather one Weatherbug? Eh, on my old computor my dad had downloaded it. It gave us quite a few problems, generating pop ups and the such. Twice or thrice it actually redirected the link to weatherbug.com, for about ten to fifteen minutes, and we couldn't go to that site.

There's a lot of pop ups in neopets. I get them when I play solitaire. It's so frustrating even my adblock can't block them out!!

Do you NOT feel it?

There's not a lot of Pop ups on neopets... It's probably just because your computer is junked up. Download those programs I linked to, and run them a few times to get as much off as possible. And if it helps, you can download the google toolbar. It's great at blocking popups and even when you hide it, it still blocks!

Neopets has pop-ups?! :o I thought Adam said that they'd never stoop to that... I've never gotten one before though. Maybe it is some spyware or adware in your computer which is acting up. Do as Winter suggested and scan your computer for them.

No, Neopets doesn't have popups.

The ones appearing on there computer are spybot's and adware. Just download the programs to remove them.

My computer is spyware-free.

I never get popups on Neo.

There are no pop-up ads on Neopets.

Get those spyware cleaners, kiddies!

Be sure to update your programs every time you use them so you can stay up to date on the newest spyware and adware.

Additionally, I recommend downloading a popup blocker. The google toolbar has one that comes with it.

Gone, forever.

It looks like that weather banner is actually generating the popup. If it happens to you again, get a screenshot and mail it to Adam. Read this topic for details: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8415

Neopets has no popups, nor will it ever have popups. So sayeth Adam and Donna.

In addition to running AdAware and Spybot S&D, you should also consider finding a popup blocker (google offers one) or switching to a different browser (Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox are my favorites, but there are many other browsers out there as well). Mozilla also offers the option of playing a sound everytime a popup is blocked, which can be pretty satisfying.

Mozilla also isn't susceptible to the autoinstallers that run in some popups that IE is...that's why you're getting these popups, because a hijacker was installed on your computer without your knowledge, by circumventing IE's "security protocols." You might consider taking a look at your security settings and upping them a bit.

Now, I got this popup people were talking about late yesterday. I didn't take a screenshot because my pc was a bit overloaded and required a reboot at the time, and it hadn't really crossed my mind that I should take a screenie.

Currently, I'm using IE for Neopets. I have no filesharing software installed, and my spy/malware cleaners have been coming up clean. I do also use the Google toolbar.

This popup got through because I have the Google bar set to allow popups from Neopets. Otherwise flash games and even item windows don't work.

This wasn't some random popup from another source. I haven't had an annoying popup in ages, and it's nigh impossible to say that the weatherbug popup just randomly happened to me for other reasons. All I was doing was surfing Neopets, and ran across the weatherbanner.

yea, Adam was upset when people started posting screenies of it. Something may have gotten by the staff. He said he would look into it and out a stop to it.
