Ok, here's the new problem. The Black Pteri keeps winning by only a handful of points. I don't think it is my attack so much as it is my defense.

My battle set now includes:

Scuzzys Comb
Florbix Blaster
Sinsis Sword
Air Faerie Crown
Virtupets X-514 Super Shield
Downsize!
Lucky Robots Foot

(I also have a large metal shield and leaf shield which I've experiemented with, yeilding the same sorry results)

What can I do to make my defense stronger? What am I doing wrong? I think I have good weapons, but if I'm wrong about this, I'll sell stuff to buy the right gear.

Nevermind me, I'm all right.

Level : 14

Health : 76 / 76
Strength : EXCELLENT (51)
Defence : bulletproof
Move : EXCELLENT (46)

I'm kinda stuck at that defence thanks to the lab ray. I have to train and train to get my level up before I can add defence.

When my defence is better, which shield should I use?

If you have the neopoints to do it, I recommend you train up level then defence now...I've been purely labbing one pet and now that I want to train strength, I'll have to gain over 200 levels. Also, try to get a freezer. At least a Snowglobe Staff.

No, a Scroll of Freezing is 100% once per battle, though Fragile. Don't get attached, it's going to break once. But it lasts a few battles, so you could sell it back for about 1k less and get a free freeze for 1k :P

I like your style, you have both the attack and the defense at the same time. Its a very effective strategy, but is only good if your defense is half decent. Your defense is way way way to weak to allow your weapons (air faerie crown, leaf shield) to reach its full potential. Have your defense evened out if not above attack.

Freezing because if you hit him hard enough when he is frozen you wont have anything to steal from

If you are only concerned about a single win, try this. Use the ability diamond dust or fiery gaze to freeze him on the 1st move along with 2 attack weapons if you can survive. If you can't, an attack weapon and downsize!
If that isn't enough for a win, buy a scroll of freezing. Use fiery gaze or diamond dust on move 1 as before. After it works and freezes him use your scroll, attack weapon and fierce or berserk attack....the next move, 2 strong attack weapons and fierce or berserk attack.
good luck

Oh, you are only 4 points away from the next strength boost, maybe you can work on that? I know your level is too low, but you may wish to spend on strength serums or ferocious neggs.

As for your BD set, do you really need so many attacking weapons? You have 4 main attacking weapons, its good for variety, but maybe you could sell the two lesser ones (IMO Florbix and Sinsis) and use the np to train your pet.

I'd think both are equally useful in this case. You steal a Thyoras Tear, for heaven's sake! Although it's not AS useful since you'll only be able to attack half, you'll still gain a great advantage.

I saw use a snowglobe staff and yellow sticky hand on the first turn and keep restarting until you get both a freeze and a steal. Then bomb away with ... say dual snowballs? Like snow mudballs or something...

Oh and you SHOULD really train your strength a bit more. Forget about defense for now. The TT should cover that. Get to the next strength boost then start thinking about defense. Most defensive weapons less than 1 mil. np aren't very useful against 1 player opponents (save the spider grundo , whose attack you can demolish with a large metal shield ;) ). Even for the wealthy, defense isn't as critical as attack. Remember... you can't win with defense.
