I've missed all of you, wanted to say that first.

OK, a few of us were posting on our guild board about general stuff, like how people were doing on their end of year school tests, the weather (really), our pets (real ones - someone had just adopted a kitten), and the McDonald's plushies. I posted that I was trying to get all the aisha toys, but couldn't find a color. Someone posted, suggested I try ebay. I posted back saying that was a good idea, blah blah blah.

Logged out. Went to a community association hearing, which was long so I never logged back in that night. Logged in the next morning and found New Event Mail from Theneopetsteam. Since I hadn't entered anything, I knew it was bad news.

The warning said:

Quote:
Subject: Official Warning from The Neopets Team
Folder: Inbox

Message:

[Report Message] You have received an official warning from the Neopets Team for violating the Neopets Terms and Conditions. Please do not advertise commercial websites on Neopets. All such posts will be blocked or removed. If you continue to break the rules, your account will be permanently frozen. To see a list of Neo Rules, please visit http://www.neopets.com/chatrules.phtml. Please do not reply to this NeoMessage.

At first I thought maybe it was because on the HD I'll sometimes tell people to go to soup-faerie for backgrounds or tell them to get ad-aware and spybot if they post that they're having spyware problems. Found out the warning was not because of anything on the HD -- it was on the guild board -- all my messages there were cleared. Is ebay not allowed to be said? The person who posted recommending I go there did not get a warning or their posts cleared.

Any ideas? Yes, I have written in asking what I could have typed to get that warning and if there are places we aren't supposed to tell people about to let me know. No answer yet, don't know if I'll get one.

In close to 2 years I've never gotten a warning. I try to stay under the radar, I don't have all that much, I do try to follow the rules (muddy as they are), so I'm just not happy about this and while it may be a minor warning (I don't know if it is or not), I don't think it was a justified warning.

The only other thing is I know for a fact that a staffer was posting on the HD the same time I was around the night I got the warning. Could something have been misread? I mean, if something's not allowed shouldn't the filters be picking it up?

Sorry, I guess I needed to vent about this and I can't do it on the site. You know, people get another warning for saying they got a warning, if not frozen or saying they got a warning.

I can see why you would get a warning for posting about ebay, many people have been selling neopoints to accounts on ebay.

Guild Message boards are not monitored like the main boards, usually to get a warning there for something like that was because it was reported by someone.

But it being ebay doesn't make sense... On the McDonalds plushie page, theres a link there for an ebay auction for the entire 109 plushie set for 850 dollars (!!!).

I can't believe someone would pay that much for 109 4" plushies that cost a quater to make. I am fine getting mine at McDonald's.

OK, thanks for the responses. It apparently must have been saying ebay. Though why the person who first posted suggesting I go there to get the toy I wanted wasn't warned or had their posts cleared is still a mystery.

Something else to add to the list of not known but not to be typed words! And yes, on the McDonald's page there is the 2 auctions for charity. But this is Neo, they can say and do things that the rest of us can't. Can be confusing! I'm just not posting anything except for healing springs, etc. that are on the site and I'm not posting much.

Yeah, TNT has advertised e-bay serveral times, I really don't think you should have been given a warning for it.

They just delight in being vague and cruel. And hypocritical.

But yeah, giving you a warning for mentioning ebay is just weird when they've got a link to it themselves.

I had no idea Neopets had a charity. I still wouldn't do the auction. I've worked for a business that assists charities with fund raising, and I've learned not do donate unless I can get a breakdown of how the funds are used. Administration is well and good, but shouldn't take that large a piece of the pie.

Hmmmm? I donate, but only to charities I'm familiar with. Just make sure you know how the money is being used, abuse of funds does happen.

everconfused, I feel for you--I would die if I got a warning.

But, I think it is the talk about ebay that did it. The other night, one of my daughter's friends got a warning after talking about ebay on the chats. They had been discussing the new McD's plushies and her friend said that he could really make a profit when he sold them in the future on ebay--just like how the McDonald's teeny beanies had gone up in price on ebay. Right after that, he got the warning.

So, TNT must be extra sensitive about ebay and selling the McD's plushies on ebay. Kind of strange--seeing that they are advertising ebay on their site.

As usual, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing!!!

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?
