Petpetpet help please

I know I've seen the post about before, but I can't seem to find one right now, nor can I find it on PinkPT, so I'll ask here. I'm trying to get my petpetpet to attach to one of my pets. I don't really care which one (not that I could choose, I know). My question is how long did it take you, and does it have to pick a petpet it likes or something? Oh yeah, will it go on a retired petpet?
I know I'm just being silly, I need to refresh my inventory until it goes on and just accept that, but I've been trying for 3 days now and I can't get it to budge.

It took me three days for my breebly. It's completely random, but yes, it will go on a retired petpet, and no, I don't believe a pet can 'reject' a petpetpet. I have found, however, that it goes faster if you only have that page open, and if you manually refresh, rather than using the F5 button. My breebly took 3 days, my cooty about 2 hours, and my mootix within about 15 minutes. Kepp trying, it'll attach eventually.

I think it's also advised to have 50 items in your inventory - I'm not exactly what purpose it serves, but it seems to help.

From what I understand the 50 items is to hedge against a Pant Devil Disaster.
