>.> Does TNT like to give out false warnings?

-_- I got this.
You have received an official warning from the Neopets Team for violating the Neopets Terms and Conditions.Do not spread chain letters on NeoMail, message boards, the trading post or anywhere else; they are spam mails that annoy other users. You will NEVER get anything for free or prevent anything bad from happening by posting or sending chain letters. If you continue to break the rules, your account will be permanently frozen. To see a list of Neo Rules, please visit http://www.neopets.com/chatrules.phtml. Please do not reply to this NeoMessage.

The funny thing is, I've never posted a chain letter. Ever. And no one has access to my account. And while I was on vacation in New York, I got a warning for posting profanity, which was also funny, because the NeoMail was dated 6 days after I left.

Does TNT just like to give me warnings for fun?

maybe you accidentally set off an automated warning system that alerted a monitor but he didn't investigate properly.

And I also got frozen for telling someone not to post sexual symbols. x_x

i symphatise with your plight but i guess you have learnt that the best action if you see an offence is to report it w/o posting. either that or you do nothing and leave it to others to handle.

I got a warning once for trying to scam people or give them fake codes or whatever that particular warning is. In reality, it was when they had put the Neopets TCG code card on the Neocam, and I was putting as many of the digits of the code as I could figure out/knew since I was like the only one at the time who actually had a real code card. So I was posting like, WCO11-etc. and stuff, and got a warning for it. Duh TNT, it's one of your own codes.

Mystique brings up an interesting point:

When you report a message, via neomail or on the neoboards, don't ever ever ever post "Reported," "I'm gonna report you," or even so much as "harharhar." Nowadays, vengeful Neopians are very likely to report you back, and they're often very happy to make stuff up. It's not that hard to fake-report someone, since monitors probably look at the report screen rather than at the actual message itself before recommending a freeze to the full-time staff.

If you're gonna report someone, just do it and run away quickly.

Shapu, you give such great advice!

I know this stuff too well. My daughter's account was frozen when she was doing an innocent act of giving out Christmas presents on the board--no strings attached. Some little nasty posted that my daughter was a scammer and then reported her. And five seconds later the account was frozen.

I wrote a letter to the staff suggesting that perhaps the staff member who reported her didn't even check to see what my daughter had posted and had instead froze the account based on what this little nasty had said.

And, one day later, I got an email from a staff member which pretty much confirmed my theory. It basically stated that because there are so many posts compared to the number of staff monitoring the boards, often the staff has to rely on the users' reports to police the boards. Meaning: sometimes (always?), the staff doesn't read the boards to confirm if a report is accurate or not before firing its freeze gun.

Best bet: Stay the heck away from those nasty boards! Lurk if you must, but be really careful doing anything on them.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, my daughter got her account back. The little nasty who reported her was frozen for filing too many false reports. Revenge is sweet!

My second account on Neopets was frozen because someone reported me for not being their NeoFriend. x_x At least there was not that much on that account.

Perhaps it just took a long time for a staff member to look at a report of yours from a few days earlier? I don't know, sounds weird to me, but it's the only thing I can think of.

I guess it's just safer to stay quiet in the Neoboards.

My first thought was that someone could be in your account. I don't know how likely it would be, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to change your password anyway. *shrugs*

I don't think anyone is in my account.
If they were, I'd see my NP missing. Which I don't. :P

I agree - it wouldn't hurt to change your password just in case.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Is it possible that someone has it in for you? Maybe the person you reported for the sex symbols? Perhaps that person is making up lies about you and sending reports in from time to time. The staff isn't checking to verify the info before sending out the warnings to you.

It might be best to write the staff telling them what you have told us here--that you weren't even playing when some of these warnings were received and that you think someone might have a grudge against you and is filing false reports about you.

I think that the word 'sex' sets off an automated warning from Neopets, no matter how it's used.

Wed Aug 04, 2004 7:03 pm

I didn't actually say "sex". I just reported them for posting sexual symbols.
