The Goggles avi can be gotten by trying on an item in the mal.
But they say it won't count towards your collection, as not everyone can get it.

Why? It never stopped them before.

I guess they're desperately trying to prove - apparently to all anti-NC Mall supporters - that Neopets is really all about fairness and justice (and don't you dare suggest otherwise). Ho hum.

What about the Coco Roll avie, unobtainable to anyone not on a certain network in the US only.

The only reason I got that was cos some nice person played the game for me and sent me a code, otherwise, what chance would I have?

I guess that's their loophole: you can get it with other people's help.

I tried stuff on but didn't get the avi. Then again the whole thing was buggy for me. Typical. There is something just not right about selling something that doesn't work well. There should be a warranty for such items. But instead we get a lame 'buyer-beware' disclaimer. What if there's a mistake or glitch? Take small comfort you were warned.

I can see how this new NC Mall might make a small profit (a few hundred thousand people even trying something just once). But nothing like the "billions" that the parent company is supposedly investing into it. And not in very good conscience, really.

I'm a bit bitter only because despite all the claims of 'keeping things fair' it really doesn't seem like a promise that can be kept. Especially now that all this great art is only going toward people who can and want to pay for it. It should be for all of us, in my opinion. (After all, artists do their best work when they're starving -- JUST KIDDING.)

EDIT: Besides, I can still hardly believe that Neopets was not making a profit before. And a nice comfortable one at that, even if things were a little tight at times. Premium users, plushie marketing, TCG card sales, all of these and more didn't make "enough" money?! Hardly believeable. What "they" (previously known as TNT) mean is that the billions being poured into the company now have to be used for something and this is what it is for. Investors make the decisions now. And it's amazing what schemes they will come up with to try and make more money. They are so used to making money off of creating a product previously unwanted and convincing people that they need it. You think they would just ask us what we want.

You don't have to buy anything. I got it last night just trying things on. I'm not sure if it's a specific thing. I mainly went to "try on" the Down with NC flag, and ended up just messing around. I'm sure not going to buy anything there.

You won't get a SHH, you'll just have to check your avi list.

Its so weird now. 8+ years ago when I 1st joined it wasnt like this at all. it was a simple site with like 7 or 8 pets to choose from and only 1 world to visit.

Try things on several times to get it. I did it three or four times after the first initial try and found it had activated. No notice or sign of it until I checked my neoboard preferences.

The "this avatar does not count" thing is more of a "NCMALL IS NOT EBIL!!!oneoneeleven" manifest made by TNT than anything else. Anyone can get it for free by changing their country to US for 5 minutes and trying things on in the mall.

P.S. Speaking if the mall, I've visited it for the first time today and I didn't find anything I would consider buying, even with normal np. I liked the gypsy outfit, but it wouldn't suit any of my neopets, and the backgrounds seem really pretty at first glance, but there' too much clutter on them: falling leaves and snowflakes, blooming flowers, passing clouds and all that stuff takes away attention from the pet itself.

Any country can get it, you do not have to be set to USA. If you check and it is not there, go back and try a few more things on.

Both my daughter and myself are in Aust (country set to Aust.) and we got it.

Oh come on, guys. TNT are damned if they do and damned if they don't at the moment. They didn't have to release an avatar at all - they made it not count towards your total in an attempt to be fair, and we'd have complained if some of us couldn't get it. They released a new avatar (which have been in short supply lately) and tried to make it fair so it doesn't affect gameplay - let's not slam them for it.

That's irony, something TNT still do well, and they get a solid round of applause from me for it. They don't expect anyone to buy that for $50. You can bet Viacom weren't too happy about them releasing it, though, and it's a triumph for the Neopets sense of fun that it was released anyway! If you want to make a statement, have a great-looking pet with no NC items on it.
