You don't need to apologise for posting a lot lol!

Anyway. Shop wiz restocking is a good way to make money. Probably the most likely thing to happen is people will put unbuyables in their shop for 99,999 thinking they are uncuting the rest of the players who are selling at 100K.

Or people will forget to put a final zero on the end of something, so you might find a mootic for 10,000

Otherwise, newbies tend to put codestones or whatever in very cheaply.

Bearin mind though, you can get shop wiz banned for refreshing to much :)

There is this guide for Shop Wizard restocking.

N E O P E T S - S H O P B U Y I NG
by Chris Taylor; A.K.A Demonichunter4
Last Update 11/11/2003 Ver. 0.1
E-Mail - mailto:admin@unknowngate.com

*************************************************************
TABLE OF CONTENTS:
[01] Introduction
[02] Update Information
[03] The Basics
[04] Reccomendations
[05] How-To-Do-It (!!)
[06] The Items
[07] Contact Me
[08] Coming Soon!

Also, if you're looking for a certain part, search for '[number] First Letter' to make it easy to find. For example, to find Requirments, I would search for: '[04] R'. To enable search, press Crtl + F at the same time on your browser.

*************************************************************
X [01] Introduction [01] X

Hey there, my name is Chris. I go by Demonichunter4 on Neopets, and am here to teach you a way to earn good neopoints with an alternative method rather than restocking. This is mainly for people that don't have the patience to restock, or can't restock because of their internet conncetion.

*************************************************************
X [02] Update Information [02] X

Version 0.1 - Everythings done.. now I wait for comments, suggestions or other info I need to add. Enjoy it! (again!)

*************************************************************
X [03] The Basics [03] X

Basic Lesson #1: Turn off pictures if your internet is slow
Basic Lesson #2: Wait at least 6 seconds between search to ensure you don't get shop wizard banned (only for the hour.)
Basic Lesson #3: Use the search feature in big shops.
Basic Lesson #4: If you find a shop more than once that has cheap items; put it in favorites and check from time to time for cheap items.
Basic Lesson #5: Use F5 and press enter for easier searching.

*************************************************************
X [04] Reccomendations [04] X

Reccomendation #1: Have a cable or higher connection. If you have a 56k connection, turn all pictures off.
Reccomendation #2: Be able to react well (good reflexes)
Reccomendation #3: Have good tolerance.
Reccomendation #4: Control yourself, just because you miss an item does not mean a hacker got it! =)

And time to explain it:

Reccomendation #1: The page must load fast, espcially for big shops with lots of competition. Turning off pictures makes pages load much faster than normal.
Reccomendation #2: You must see the shop and click it withen a second, or else it will be gone.
Reccomendation #3: Sometimes you don't get the item, that's ok.. you must be able to do it over and over again with failure.
Reccomendation #4: See #3

*************************************************************
X [05] How-To-Do-It [05] X

[Step 1: Pick an Item] First step, pick an item to look for. Section [06] will show you the most profitable items. It helps a lot more to concentrate at only one item at a time.

[Step 2: Turn Pictures Off - OPTIONAL] If you have slow cable, and are able to recognize your item by it's name, you should turn your pictures off. To turn them off, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and uncheck the box that includes "Enable picture ___" Every Internet Explorer version has a different title for it (to my knowledge). (Thanks for the info Fidds)

[Step 3: Big Shop or Small] When you find your item, be quick to see if the shop is big or has a few items. If the shop has few items, search for yours. If the shop has lots of items, use search to find your item.

[Step 4: Extras?] When you've got the item you came for, take a look around the shop, because chances are they have another mis-priced or cheap item.

[Step 5: Reselling, Quickly] Most items you buy will be easy-to-sell items, and you should try to get the profit as quick as you can, so you can keep shopping. To do so, use the shop wizard (on another account, if possible) and search for it 5 different times. Take the lowest of the 5 and take off 50-1000 off the price for a quick sell. Codestones should be about 50 neopoints lower, and labratory maps and other high priced items can be anywhere from 500 to 1000 neopoints off for a quick sell.

[Step 6: "I'm Banned!"] Well true, you are.. but only for the end of the hour. At the beginning of the next hour, you can search again. To best avoid bans, only search every 6-7 seconds, and taking a break never hurts. Your hand probably needs the rest, anyways.

*************************************************************
X [06] The Items [06] X

These are the items I know of that are easy-to-sell and at least make a 10% profit.

Codestone as Containing for less than 4,000. Sells up to 4,500. Don't buy Lu Codestones above 3000.
Secret Laboratory Map as Exact for less than 30,000. Sells from 32,000-40,0000. Includes all 9 pieces.
Bottled as Containing for less than 3,500. Sells from 4,000-4,2500. Includes all faeries besides for light and water. Don't buy light or water above 3,250.
Ice Negg as Exact for less than 3,750. Sells from 4,000 to 4,100.
Super Ice Negg as Exact for less than 6,500. Sells from 6,800 to 7,000.
Ultra Ice Negg as Exact for less than 10,000. Sells from 10,250 to 11,000.
Ultimate Ice Negg as Exact for less than 45,500. Sells from 52,000 to 55,000. Sort of hard-to-sell, so only buy if it's going to be a big profit.
Race to Riches Scratchcard as Exact for less than 650. Sells from 700 to 750. Very common and easy-to-sell.
Terror Trove Scratchcard as Exact for less than 700. Sells from 750 to 800. Very common and easy-to-sell.
Peak O Plenty Scratchcard as Exact for less than 9,000. Sells from 9,400 to 9,700. Very common and easy-to-sell.
Undead Jackpot of Doom Scratchcard as Exact for less than 1,000. Sells from 1,100 to 1,200. Very common and easy-to-sell.

Been restocking, and got a few rarity 99s? Been days and you still can't sell it? My next guide will help you sell those hard-to-sells! Maybe not for pure neopoints like you would want, but by the end of my guide, you should have gotten close enough to it.

Until next time...

I've found out recently that you can make a reasonable amount if you're patient enough at Auctions. Rather than refreshing the 20 second page I actually use the Auction Wizard to search for unbuyables, when I find an unbuyable at a good price (eg, 50k) I'll make a note of the time when the Auction finishes... About 10 minutes before the Auction finishes I load up the page to see what price its currently running at and to organise myself and my timing so I can step-in and outbid everyone at the last second. Doing this I managed to get an item for 11k that was unbuyable on the Shop Wizard and had only one other person with it on the Trades and they didn't know a price... ;)

auctions are good, if you have a reasonable connection. i can't do it on my pathetic dialup, but a friend in the USA who has a waaay faster connection got a chokato (tcg) card for 35k and currently they are unbuyable :) otherwise, if you have a slow connection like me, surf the shop wiz, i got a cloud aisha blaster for 99k, instead of the 180k its selling for on the trading post, its a hard to sell, but i don't mind, it went in my gallery :P

but yeah, heaps of new players stick the dubloons in for 10nps :P

If you see my sanity, get it to give me a call.

I make just about all of my nps as a reseller--a person who buys things off the shop wiz and then resells them in their shop for the market rate. And, if you ask any of my family members, I have done really, really well. But, unlike some other resellers, I am a visual person, so I never turn off pictures--I would be too afraid of accidentally buying something that was purposely overpriced.

My keys to success:

1. You need a lot of nps to do this, if you want to do it right. I think nothing of laying out 100K-300K a day for my purchases--most of them are easy to sells, so I will get back those nps relatively quickly--but you still have to be able to do without that amount of nps--and I am never low enough to have less than 100K at any one time because you never know when you will see that lost desert paint brush in someone's shop for 99,999--so you have to have the nps right there.

If you don't have a lot of nps at first, play games until you do, then buy easy to sells. I started out with 50K and bought codestones and faeries--I would buy them 100-500 nps less than what my line was and resell them on my line--and, usually, they would go like hotcakes. Then, I would take whatever was in my till and buy more, etc., etc.

2. You need to play often enough to know the daily trends of those items that you are targetting. And for things that are fluctuating in price, you need to price them so they sell that same day. For instance, one thing I search for from time to time is the glamour negg. If you bought one a week ago, you could sell it for 19000 in a blink of an eye. If you bought one two days ago, you were lucky to sell it for 15,000. So, you have to know the trends of the market so you don't wind up with 15 glamour neggs that you paid 18,000 and now can only get 16,000 for. Sometimes you can't hold out for the price they went for last week, because they may never be that price again. Good idea is to check the big guys to see what their prices are and go lower than them--and if you resell often enough, you figure out who the big map/negg/faerie/codestone dealers are because you see their names over and over with 400 of the same item.

3. Don't price your items so low that they sell "instantly." This is the biggest mistake I see. People want to get rid of a pricey negg so they sell it for 10,000 when every other line has it for 12,000 or higher. Check out all of the lines to see what the going rate is and then check out your line. Make it the lowest price on your line if it is close to the going rate. If it isn't, then make it 1 or 5 nps lower than whatever the going rate is. In other words, if every line has the X negg for 12,000, including your line, then price it for 11,999. If someone on your line has it for 10,000, don't price it for 9,999--either price yours for 11,999 or buy that 10,000 one and price both for 11,999.

4. It is OK to target certain items to search for on the shop wiz and only look for those things--my husband does it quite successfully--but I don't limit myself to searching just for those things. I do target certain items that I search for on a daily basis, but I am also a "bag lady." I buy anything and everything I can that is underpriced. If I find a bargain in a shop, I scope out the rest of the items to see if there are any other bargains lurking in the shop. And, then buy those bargains. And, then while pricing those bargains, I find more bargains, etc., etc.

But, in order to know whether something is a bargain or not, you need to know the relative prices of just about every item and if you don't, you need to be able to look them up on the shop wiz quickly. And knowing the relative price of things comes with experience, I think. I can pretty look in a shop and know which things are priced too low and which things aren't. Like today, in my daily search for neggs, I saw a shop that also had an orange evil fuzzle for 10 nps and a lost desert wrist plate for 100 nps. I knew immediately that those things were worth buying, but the cheese tortilla priced at 300 nps was not.

Yesterday, I bought 110K worth of dung items, but only spent 24,000 on them--all because when I was pricing a lime milkshake I saw a dung playpen in someone's shop and wondered what the going rate was. I discovered that the one in the shop was not a bargain at 2500, but my first refresh on the shop wiz showed one for 700 nps--I then checked out that shop and bought everything he had--and I'll make at least 85,000 on it. Not everyone can do this, mind you--stuff like this drives my husband crazy--but I seem to have a knack for it.

5. Do your searching late in the hour. If you are refreshing and refreshing on the shop wiz, you can get shop wiz banned and the ban lasts for the rest of that hour and is up when the clock hits :00. Lots of people get shop wiz banned early in the hour, leaving them unable to check the prices of things during the last 5-10 minutes of the hour. Which allows anyone who isn't shop wiz banned to scoop up the bargains.

6. Finally, you have to be able to take a risk. Sometimes you have to sell the items for the exact amount you paid for them because someone has come along with 500 of them 100 nps lower than your asking price.

Sometimes you have to sell short (meaning a lower price than what you paid for them) just to get out of there before the price drops even further. But, sometimes, if you are lucky, you can still make a profit. For instance, the glamour neggs: I had bought four for 16,500 when they were selling for 19,000. Overnight the price dropped drastically. What did I do? I saw that the overall price was about 16,000, but several people had them for 10,000, 12,000, 14,000. I knew the price would probably drop more, so I bought all of those that were 14,000 and less. This then made the going rate about 16,000 with one line at 15,000. Then I priced the four I had and all of the others at 15,000 when just about everyone else was about 16,000 --but only did two at a time. So, everyone else wouldn't panick and drop their price to 15,000 also. I sold all of them successfully--and, still made a profit, overall. But, if I had waited for the price to go back up to what I had paid for those four, it never would have happened--and I would still be stuck with them.

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?

A few things you should search for are codestones and bottled faeries. Just enter the term 'codestone' or 'bottled faerie' in the Shop Wizard and keep refreshing until you see a low price. I once found a Bottled Fire Faerie for only 5 neopoints :)

I remember that when I was a newbie to Neopets, I used to price codestones for 900 neopoints ;)
It's quite common for newbies to look at the estimated value of an item and price it as such.

i can never understand why some players seem to have a knack for getting good deals off the shop wizard, like a draik t-potion for 99k for example. occasionally, i can get a few cheap deals while searching for an item but some players seem to pull it off with good frequency.

that said, some of my regular customers are shop resellers which i much prefer to unbuyable resellers. sometimes, a few of those petpet mall owners even spend over 100k in my shop and resell those petpets for 800 nps more per item. :D you got to love the resellers sometimes, they make my job as a restocker easy.

Don't think that! People regularly get deals off the Shop Wizard. Maybe if you're just starting to try this, you should perhaps only search for one specific thing (such as codestones or faeries like I mentioned) and refresh. You'll usually find a few that are underpriced.

Bana, I'm on dial up, so restocking in the main shops is next to impossible; between the connection being slow while so many others are on super fast and the ab'ers, well reselling is pretty much the only way to go for me.

Now, I've been lazy lately I admit. But like Morningstar, if I'm searching the wiz for something and find it at a good price I'll go to that shop and see what else that person has. Alot of times nothing, but every now and then you can get some really good deals.

I don't specialize at all. What I find cheap I'll buy and stock my shop with. I used to spend alot more time on the site just searching for different items that I knew would sell. I also used to save specific things for pet days and decorate my shop for that day, but now it's just whatever I find - that's when I get around to looking.

No, I've never been one of the people to get a great potion or pb for cheap, I'm not that lucky. But if you're patient with yourself, just look for one item each day, say something like the Magic Paw (books always sell, and that one's pretty cheap) for like a week just to practice, before you know it, you can be a good reseller too!
