What is the next number in this sequence?

52, 28, 33, 63, 73, 23, 56,...

This seems quite hard, since I can't find any mathematical logic in it. Actually I think the solution maybe lies more in what the numbers represent, not in the numbers themselves.

Oy. Is it just me, or does it seem like the puzzlemaster has changed?

Oh, I could just fit any eighth-order polynomial to these....

This feels too much like a mystery pic search... *stricken: I'm sitting this one out...*.

[edit] Never mind, looks like the neoboards gave too big of a hint away.
