I just tried to get into my side account and its asking me to type in my birthday. I did, and it won't let me into my account. I must have put something random when I created the account 5 years ago and I don't remember what it is.

Has this always been a security feature? I log into my main account all the time and it never asks me for my birthday. I guess I'll never get into my side account again...

I know if you type in the wrong password you'll be asked for your birthday

If you're neofriends with your gallery account, find out how old it is. Then you will know what year you put down. You can guess your birthday an unlimited amount of times - but you have to have the correct password to guess the birthday correctly. I lost a side account birthday once and had to go through like 5-6 months of days before I found the correct day. Just start at January 1st. :)

Oh my gosh! I didn't think of trying that (the neofriend bd thing). I have a side account with an aubergine chia and I tried to log in yesterday and got stuck on the bd question. I thought I'd lost him but now I know I'll get him back eventually. :)

I got in!!!! *hugs pfar tight* <3

all my side accounts have the same password. Though my main account has a completely different password than my side ones. I do have one account though, that I despretly wish I could get back into. I created it about 3-4 years ago. And after a while stopped going to Neopets, and since then lost the password and everything. I dont even remember the screen name.

Look at it as a way of thinning out some accounts for that is what it is doing. :o
Let's call it the friendlier freeze. LOL
Free up those servers and make room for people who might want premium :roflol:

i've now lost a few side accounts to this terrible scourge. i guess it's good in that it stops people form having the fake accounts with random birthdays to get things like advent calendar. and luckily i didn't have much stored on those accounts anyway

Thanks! Apparently, I put my birthday as being in 1969. Wow. I'll chalk that one up to being really young back then. Now I just wish I had the patience to go through every single day. Maybe oneday when I'm really bored.

Good thing I put my actual birthday on my Main Account.

Actually, I didn't put in a random birthday to get freebies. Back when I created my account, I did it because I didn't trust Neopets. I had no idea whether the site was legit or whether the site was going to attempt to sell my personal info to someone. I refused to give them any more information than they needed. So, I used my sister's birthday instead. And, when my daughter signed up, I had her choose random dates because I questioned why they needed to know a minor's birthdate. I still question it. Too much personal info is being given out over the internet as it is. Making it so easy for people to assume a person's identity and then rip them off financially. I still see no reason as to why Neo has to have our exact birthdates. *shakes head* And will never, ever give it to them. Because I am premium, they already have my name and my address. Giving them my birthdate makes it just too easy for someone to compromise my financial information. As we saw being done in the 4/4/4 fiasco.

Hi Morningstar!!! Haven't seen you in forever!!!
I think Neo tries to get tooooo much info as well Morningstar. It is a different company now than it was a few years ago and I WOULD NOT want them to have any more personal info than necessary.
They have gone from an ad free site to a site with ads on top and bottom and even some pop ups in the middle of your screen that are loosely monitored at best. From a free site to a pay site for all intensive purposes.
I certainly don't trust them with personal information as personal info has been spread all over Neopia on more than 1 occassion, 4-4-04 being just 1 example. The log in to anyone's account being another.

you could check the age every few days for as long as it takes for the age to change, then you'd know when the birthday was within a few days.

The birthday requirement comes up even with a correct password and username if you have not logged into that account for over 6 months. (Or something like that, I'm not exactly sure how many months it is, but it's a significant amount of time.)

It is a fairly new feature that's been around for about a year.

This is exactly what did when I had this problem. I have two accounts I've been trying to get back into since April. I'm Neofriends with them so I knew the year and went through a couple of months by hand but it was so frustrating I just gave up and waited for the age to change. I got back into one of them in August but I am still waiting on the other one.

I really think you ought to be able to request that they send you the birthday of an account to the email you used for that account if you've forgotten it. Just like they will send your password.

If a person isn't Neofriends with an account they've forgotten the birthday to it would be practically impossible for them to ever guess it correctly if the B-day was a truely random one.

It's a good idea to print out a copy of your 'preferences' which will include your birthday and write your password on it.

It's very obvious TNT is trying to get rid of some non-premium accounts so don't let yours be one of them.

if they wanted to effectively remove old accounts, they could do one of them name rollbacks like they did a while back. if you're active, your account will always be safe from these cleaning schemes

I think they're doing it so that older accounts are harder to break into o_O
