I was completing the Altador constellation plot when my virus scanner said something about picking up a trojan. I didn't catch the ad (it was one of those steps where you had to do a lot of clicking), but it was definitely from Neopets. I have Adblock too, so it was probably the smaller kind of top banner one I glimpsed sneaking past the filters (I blocked it now). A window did pop up asking if I wanted to run something in Windows Media Player...I wouldn't let it if I were you. And just when I was actually starting to get stuff accomplished in that, too...

Be careful, and if you do unfortunately encounter the ad please send a screenshot to TNT.

Would it help if I sent a report without a screenshot, or would it get ignored?

Not really...it looked innocent at any rate, but there was probably an Iframe or something hiding behind it doing all of the dirty work.

I got that earlier today too! I didn't realize it was from Neopets though, because I had several other sites up...I wish I knew what ad it was.

You probably should send a report, even if you don't have a sreenshot (yet). Then at least they'd be aware there was a potential problem and might start investigating.

I got one of those trojan ads today as well. I reported it, but just a heads up to everyone. Make sure you have some sort of virus protection and keep it up to date! :)

http://www.neopets.com/contact.phtml

Out of the options given, I would choose the ideas/comments link.

It'd be better to send a note via the report bad ads page. ;)

Thanks, that's the link I was looking for!

I played a bit more today and didn't run into it again. At least it appears to be an uncommon one, but it's still dangerous. I particularly didn't like it because the computer I'm using can probably still be referred to as brand new. It wouldn't be good to mess this one up, that's for sure...

No chat programs, and the only other site I had open was the PPT forums which (obviously) have no ads.

I went to a user's shop yesterday and picked up a few trojans. "Bloodhound" something..... I knew this was going to happen with Neopets. I swear, they just throw that ads up and then take them down if there are complaints. They should scan them first and make sure what is being used is safe for users first.

It's rediculous how many trojans I get... One time I went a week without running a system scan and I had 596 seperate Trojans on my computer. Needless to say I had to do a factory restore. The crazy thing about it was that the Trojans deletes my system backup files, so I had to do it from the factory disk.
