Last Spotted Location of the ship: Mystery Island

This plot makes my head hurt, so I'm probably all wrong, but this is what I guessed:

Who pushed Hoban? Anshu
When did he fall? 6:00
Where on the ship did he fall? aftdeck
Where is Hoban now? I22
Do you like Hoban's hat? yes, it's very stylish

Anshu says he heard Hoban arguing with "someone" at the aft deck at 5am. The comic shows this is still during the storm, presumably before Anshu was ordered belowdeck to help fix the leak (as Linae says this is just before the storm ended). He asks Bonju if he knows what's up, and Bonju doesn't. Bonju says that at some point ("an hour later" after he had noticed Hoban being grumpy over by the starboard railing), he speaks to Hoban who reiterates that Linae had said he was bad luck and upset him.

So which came first? The second argument at 5am, or Bonju asking Hoban what was wrong? I'd assume the latter, because Anshu says that when he asked, Bonju says he has no idea why Hoban is so upset...but he then learns what made him so mad (though he could have lied to Anshu as well).

I'd assume that, if Anshu heard Hoban arguing with someone, he would have been able to recognize if it Linae's voice...her being the only female on the ship. But he could easily be covering up for a friend.

In fact, any of them could be lying...or they could ALL be lying and we just don't know, because everything is too vague and there are so many inconsistencies. *tears out hair*

I also don't see how Hoban could "be" anywhere other than a land mass, because unless he sank like a stone, straight to the bottom of the ocean, and then stayed there, the currents would have carried him toward land anyway...but the grid doesn't show anything other than a line and a bunch of red x's, which really could be anything. But I picked I22 ...well, mostly because a bunch of other people did. But it's also the last x on the grid, so it would make sense that Hoban fell there and the need to keep track of him/the ship/whatever those x's are was now a moot point.

I think.

I am holding off my answer but I think I am going with:

Who pushed Hoban? Bonju
When did he fall? 5:00
Where on the ship did he fall? aftdeck
Where is Hoban now? G19

By the looks of the Grid Map, the 6 x's are the hours. So hours must relate to grid position.

E3 - 1.00
F6 - 2.00
G10 - 3.00
G14 - 4.00
G19 - 5.00
I22 - 6.00


Anshu heard Hoban in an argument on the Aftdeck at 5.00. When asked by Ansh, Bonju said he had no idea about the argument.(Chapter 5) But in Chapter3 Bonju talked to Hoban at 5.00.

Whether there are other clues out there or not, this seems to me to make the most sense.

Also the 5th red X is above the line (why?), is it just an easy clue or a red herring? Because that helped me choose 5.00.

Can someone please link to the maps in question? I found posts showing the pictures, but I am hoping to see the maps in context, on a page.

Poop, you're right, that says 4 o'clock and "an hour later" would be five. I didn't notice that when I was making my notes (even though I've read the comics 40453 times x_x), probably because I was scrolled too far down. *changes notes* I don't like the format of the comics...it seems too easy to miss something (maybe it's my browser?).

Oh well, if I'm wrong...maybe I'll still get points for guessing.

It's a storm... unless you yell so strong, you can't really be heard

And even the captain who was on the deck before the storm coming didn't recall seing any quarrel between Hoban and Anshu


We have a really decent information about time here... and they never certain of the time... they didn't bring watch.

Only 2 lines tell about the "time", and only Anshu's line tell the exact time
Bonju : He saw Hoban at 4 o clock or so
Anshu : He saw Hoban at 5:00
thus
Bonju could saw Hoban's calmed at 5 : xx >_<

And so far :
Anyone can be the culprit
Bonju can use the knife to threaten Hoban to jump to the water, not to mention he is the last person talking to him (but again, we don't know if theres another person talk to him after that)

Anshu (Chapter 5) is talking to Bonju at 5:00, and Anshu says that's when he saw Hoban, right? So if he's still on deck at 5:00, wouldn't that mean he was thrown overboard after that, so 6:00?

what if each x on the grid map marked a different day or week that hes been out at sea?

The captain seems to have left out a lot from his story, or forgotten a lot of details. at least if what the others say is even remotely true.

I've mentioned the fact that I was wrong about the times, though, cause I'm unobservant like that. >> I also just woke up.

And sorry, I didn't even noticed I'd double posted. I meant to hit edit. ._. I'm still very groggy.

Most people forget a lot of details :

Kentari for example, his story is the shortest
Bonju : didn't mention seeing Anshu at 5
Linae : didn't mention where/when she was with Hoban (twice), and whether they have quarrel
Anshu : didn't mention that Linae helping him

But there's no 5:30 option *sob*

I had originally thought 6.00 but logically, if you have an argument with someone and you wanted to push them overboard, you would do it straight away and not an hour later.

Hoban got into an argument with Bonju at 5.00 on the aftdeck - Anshu hears it. but when Anshu talks to Bonju he says he doesn't know what was wrong with Hoban.

5.00 was the last time he was seen. As we are working only in 1 hour blocks, it could be anytime within that hour that he goes missing.

As he was not sighted at 6.00, then he had to of gone missing before 6.00. (To my logic, anyway).



This plot relies on what we know or what we read or see in the comic. As we don't know half of the story, it is a hard job. I have picked the most strongest clues (for me) to find an answer.

Some of the storylines are vague and I have no idea how to work out Linae's story or Kentari's. As the "investigator" doesn't asked Bonju about seeing Anshu, I would presume it doesn't matter.

Ah, point taken. Maybe they both saw Hoban flailing in the water, and they're both in on it..and yea... lol
