Maybe I'm mistaken...but isn't Premium still a Beta thing? It's not complete yet, right? I'm just confused on why I would want to pay $70 a year for something that's incomplete. Is it really THAT much better than playing for free, even if it's still in Beta testing? Wouldn't it make more sense to wait till it's done being developed? Lots of questions, I know. Just curious. So far, I've refused to pay for an incomplete product, but if it's really worth it, I might consider it.

It's not premium that's in beta testing, its the premium members who get to beta test: all new games coming out that aren't sponsor games; new features on neopets, with the exception of the new transfer log, which isn't up for anyone just yet because TNT is still testing it; etc.

Benefits of premium:
Weekly Space Faerie Scratchcard, which in my experience never awards anything less than 200nps
Monthly Premium Award of 1000nps
Random-Something Has Happened events if you use neomail, which can be winning the lottery or finding a rare item
With enough invites you also get special items awarded to you.
Super Shop Wizard which will ALWAYS show the lowest price in all of Neopia, since it doesn't go by area, it looks by price.

Ah...I see...so do you get to be awarded np when you test the game or is it simply for testing? Here's something else. I can't afford to do both Neopets Mobile (what with internet stuff also...upgrading my cingular account cost me $10 more for unlimited internet, so I'm basically paying WAY too much for something like this monthly) and Premium both. So which do you think has the best benefits?

The premium benefits have tripled the neopoints in my bank account in the past three months. In my opinion, the super shop wiz by itself is worth the money!

The only benefits from the mobile account, that I know of, are being able to make a lutari, and getting lutari beads.

I did the 14 day free trial of Premium and I didn't find it to be terribly special. I do have to say the portal was nifty, but not worth the $8 a month. I know that they are still adding and tweeking bits and peices of premium, but I doubt I'll ever be a full subscriber.
*shrugs* who knows, if they release something -really- cool that's premium only I might just do it, if I have the money.

For the question of are you able to redeem points for games in beta, the answer is no, during beta testing, since it is testing, they cannot allow anyone to redeem points or neopoints, since it's not an actual game yet. And I find premium to be very beneficial, just like the other person said, the super shop wiz is worth the $8 a month especially if you like to restock a lot.

The portal isn't that great, but there are features that are much greater to some user. If you restock, the super shop wiz is the best. If you play plushie tycoon, the plushie summary is very very helpful. Some people believe the premium only neoboards are extremely helpful and they like the exclusivity of it (I prefer coming to PPT).

It is all a matter of preference on how one plays Neopets that would make the portal more or less useful to that individual.

This is the best piece of advice I've ever seen about premium. I'm just closing out my first year. If you are a restocker or like to do things which give you a lot of page refreshes it is great. For pound hunting there is nothing like it. The speed of the page loads with a fast connection and without the ads really give an advantage.

It depends entirely on how you like to spend your time on Neo. For anyone who doesn't restock or isn't on virtually daily save your money. If Neo is your major hobby then it's worth the cash.

Well...it definately IS my major hobby...lol...needless to say to all my friends who think I'm a total dweeb. haha...I don't care. I think I will switch to Premium. I won't be able to do it tillt he beginning of next month, so I'll keep Mobile till then. The big draw for me is the Super Shop Wizard, I think. I've always wanted to get my shop all beefy and cool and I really have no idea how to go about that. It'll be a good start. My goal is to get over 10 million np eventually and to paint my pets rare colors, so I'll be playing for quite a while and probably even after that. Thanks for all the advice.

I had Premium for a long time. Then I lost my job, so I had to cancel, and decided I could do without it.

Within days of getting my new job, I got it back. I don't play every single day, but whenever I'm on, I earn so much more money with the SSW (I manage to get quite a few not-super-but-fairly-decent swipes in) then I ever was before... I love it!

I have to agree with those who say Premium is well worth it. I love the portal, I use the super shop wiz all the time, I love my neo-email, the chat boards are great, I like getting to try out and get good at some of the games before they go live-- the list goes on.

Also, you were right originally when you said they are still developing and working on Premium, which is partly why there are always limits placed on the number of new members they accept. For example, when I joined they didn't have the Super Shop Wiz yet, or the Premium only reporting system, or the "Boss" button. Those were all added as time went on. The Premium reporting system by the way, gets a far faster response than I ever got with the regular system and is another reason it's well worth the investment. I had an issue with being frozen unfairly a while back, and being a paying member made it much easier (though it was still a hassle) to work with them and get my account back.

Well, I cancelled my Neopets Mobile and unlimited internet today. Also, I asked for Premium for my birthday (coincidently next month) from my wonderful father today and he said yes. I think he was just happier that the $70 a year would be cheaper than the, what amounted to be, 12.99 a month for Neopets Mobile. I have such wonderful parents. I'm so blessed to have parents that still take care of the poor college student of a daughter they have!
