I don't even consider myself a restocker, per se, but there are days I confess to refreshing at the IGS all day, that is about it.
I have "average" DSL and a fast-ish computer (approx 2 Ghz CPU with 1.5 GB ram), but never in all my almost 2 years on Neopets have I EVER ONCE SEEN a Morphing Potion (even since the new restocking system) in the Magic Shop.
I simply don't know how people grab them. I read about people refreshing like mad, clicking real fast, etc. But whenever I go to that shop, as per this example, I either see all regular healing potions OR that very last one, priced at 5k for Healing Potion of XVIII or whatever it is.
It sits there for so long, I lose my patience and wonder who is that last person that actually buys such so that the shop can even restock?
Someone please enlighten me on this. The only place I have luck with is IGS, and others claim they never see anything there, ironically, or it is "too infrequent" (? -- not to me hehe) or they aren't fast enough, etc.
Well I am in the middle there. Fast enough but not the fastest, see. So I don't understand how ABs are even stopped (not that I even know how they work to begin with). I think there will always be scammers, and I am not sure anything can stop them to be honest.
But I do know one thing, semi-related. "Advantages" Premium members that have been "added" to the free site, are thwarting the rest of us. I don't mind paying for perks, whatever you have to make them. But it would be better to just say "free Baby Paint Brush to anyone signs up for Premium" and watch many flock to this, rather than "more REs and better luck with charms from referrals, etc." (Anyway, I happen to believe referring someone that you don't even fully wholeheartedly recommend to just for personal gain to be "sinful" and worse than MLM -- lol.)
I have never won the lottery in all my time of playing Neopets, but Premium members seem to hit that daily. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Seems unfair to me actually. The rest suffer the ads and still get worse luck, 'cause people that pay are rewarded with the advantage of "double luck" and also the consequential advantage of a "faster" site so that Premium members have better chances at getting such things as rare MPs and other rare items we all wish to be able to partake in reselling.
There should be a separate shop restocking system, lottery, etc., a Premium Neopia land that does not affect the original free Neopia. It imbalances the entire Neopian economy really, and if my luck gets any worse over time I might quit Neopets altogether. I remember when I used to get nice REs almost daily, and I play just as much as I have for the past two years. It is no longer joyfully "rewarding" but almost become a waste of time. (Translation: No fun.)
The best way to balance this would be not to deprive or take away any perks already given to Premium members, but to simply increase the "luck" and REs of those that can't or won't pay for whatever reason. And really separating the systems of the shops wouldn't hurt, either. I don't know how it would work, but I think in time TNT could and should aim to do that, else they might have an angry mob on their hands soon. Or a loss of subscribers overall, and neither is a viable option really.
End of rant, sorry. This very well could have gone in any one of several other recent threads, but I just summed all my sentiments up here when I read how others were reacting to this "new system" that can't work unless something else related to it is also fixed, in my opinion. Peace.
(Edited: CGs, I meant ABs of course.)
