I've seen guidelines on what you should do with different kinds of scratchcards (sell vs. scratch), but I haven't seen someone do the actual experiment in a while. While hoarding for my packrat, I just stuck every scratchcard I bought in my SDB. So I thought I'd sell some, trade some (in sets of 5 or 10) and scratch the majority to see which yielded the most profit. The more data I can get, the more accurate the results will be, particularly in determining the odds of getting a particular prize on a certain card. So if anyone else would like to participate, please let me know.

Right now, I have 50 Scorched Treasure cards, 37 Race to Riches, and 30 Coltzan Cash. I also have between 1 and 12 of some of the rarer cards. I'll probably start with the Scorched Treasure. I'm planning on writing an article summarizing my findings once I have enough data.

EDIT: To clarify, I'm looking for people who have scratchcards and are willing to scratch them -- especially the rarer cards -- and record what they win. In order for the results to be accurate, I need people who will be very careful in recording how many of each card they scratch and what they win with each scratch (including all duds). Even if you only have one or two, every card will help. My goal is at least 100 of each card (probably going to take a while for the "stravaganza" cards). People can PM me their data. I'll report back with results as they come in. Thanks for the help! And just a disclaimer -- I don't know if you'll be better off scratching or selling, so scratch at your own risk!

I've been collecting scratchcards for 1 year and this is my SDB:

233 Races to Riches
68 Terror Troves
19 Faerie's Fortune
2 Peaks
1 Icetravalala...

Personally, I think it's not worth to save since there's been deflation (since Race was 800np) with these items but I'm willing to sell you all my cards for negotiated price (PM).[/url]

Yep the Races to Riches has dropped quite a bit, sold 60 yesterday @ 679np. But its still worth buying them since I have gotten three of the ones going for 100k .

If it helps in any way, the Flash scratch cards, have the prizes preprogrammed, so it doesn't really matter which panel you scratch first, the same six will always come up :)

Not sure if it's the same system with non scratchcards :)

It still doesn't technically 'matter' which you scratch because there's no way to know in advance which'll be right.

Personally, I just scratch the top 6 on any card I get. Not going to make a difference anyway.

I scratched 5 Scorched Treasure Cards today. I got 3 duds, 1 500NP win, and 1 1500NP win. Thus I spent 2500NP to win 2000NP. Of course, this is not a large enough sample to draw any conclusions yet. However, when I went to scratch the 6th card, I got a message that I can only scratch 5 a day. However, I went to the Ice Caves and can scratch there, too. I'll post those results when I get them.

And thanks to everyone who is PM'ing me their results.

Here are some updated results. Since I'm only allowed to scratch 5 cards per kiosk per day, it's going to take a while to determine the true odds of having a winning card. I'm still in need of some volunteers willing to scratch some of the rarer cards. And I don't have premium, so if someone wants to double check my SW prices, I'd really appreciate it.

Scorched Treasure Cards -- scratched 20 (spent 10000 NP), have won 3000 NP plus 3 sand snowballs (worth about 135 NP total in the SW); could have sold cards for about 600 NP each.
Current Loss from scratching: 6865 NP
Current Gain from selling in shop: 2000 NP

Race to Riches -- scratched 20 (spent 12000 NP), have won 12500 NP plus 1 poison and 1 yellow snowball (worth about 9 NP total in the SW); could have sold cards for about 695 NP each.
Current Gain from scratching: 509 NP
Current Gain from selling in shop: 1900 NP

Crypt of Chance -- scratched 15 (spent 18000 NP), have won 3000 NP plus 3 Pumpkin Chip Surprise, 3 Eyeball Slurpy, 2 Extra Evil Snowball, 1 Ugly Snowball, 1 Icy Eye Snowball, 1 Tortured Snowball, and 1 Jhudoras Snowball (worth about 6505 NP total in the SW); could have sold cards for about 1000 NP each.
Current Loss from scratching: 8495 NP
Current Loss from selling in shop: 3000 NP

So thus far, it looks like it's best to sell Scorched Treasure and Race to Riches, and it's better not to buy Crypt of Chance cards at all. Of course, the sample sizes are still small, so this information could change.
