I've collected all 9 pieces and I'm following the link all the Neopets sites say I should follow but I'm still not getting it to work

Have you collected the regular lab map pieces? You need that one before you can get the petpet lab.

Yeah. It is kind of a stupid rule, but you need the Secret Laboratory Map before you can get the petpet lab map.

Once you've got both, is possible to sell the original lab map pieces and still use the Petpet one, because I know I'm not going to be zapping any of my Neopets.

Oh no - You can't sell any map after you've collected all of them and "use" them. It wouldn't really be good as then you coud just buy them and get Lab Map priviliges and you can sell it back...That would make the market unstable...
