Nothing wrong with buying a few potions when you get the opportunity, they're worth it early on. But you should almost never get that opportunity if you're not rushing areas at a risky pace.

1.5 This is also a good training tip, to stay in an area until you've stocked up on potions well.
Personally, I just make sure I'm set to 'hunting' throughout the entire game. Safe way of making sure you're always high enough lvl without having to train on-the-spot. Exceptions are Zombom early on, where you'll need to train a level or two without progressing in order to get strong enough to beat him even if you always had hunting on, and the lost dessert where you have to travel through areas where the monsters are too weak to be worth fighting a lot on your way from place to place.

Good idea on principle, but if you do the above rarely necessary.
If you're strong enough for an area, you should be able to keep your HP full in it simply by fighting and using
one of each potion you get from the monsters you beat. Holding 20 is useless, you just miss out on getting the ones you otherwise would then. Use one, hold 19, use the next when you get 20 again.

3. I never really buy Mipsy wands too much, I try to get them from bosses. Though sometimes you have to in easy mode. Armor is a must though X_X
No need whatsoever to ever buy mipsy wands. The only thing store-bought wands have is attack points, which don't matter for mipsy because you should never need to use her basic attack in the first place (direct damage is a must on her). The only useful thing about mipsy's wands is the skill points that come on magical ones.
Just giving my input. I've finnished all three modes and am halfway through finnishing evil for a second time, so I've had some opportunity to develop strategies.
