I hate REs like: "Adee the Chia says..."

TNT must do something with it ! I HATE THAT CHIA (other stupid REs too)!
I must write this to NT editorial. Anyone who wants to add something to it - post

That one kind of anoys me, I'd rather get an item. :p but oh well it doesn't really get under my skin.

The Grundo Leader is always stealing my rusty cans. I think he's a cleptomaniac. He needs counciling for sure.

I agree, the "talking" REs are annoying... except... I do like the ones where your pets ask for things

I sent the following as a suggestion to TNT just now:

Hey! I love forums, they get your brain juices flowing. Some people were complaining about the pointless Random Events, and I have to agree, the "Adee the Chia says" ones are pretty lame... imho (no offense).
But I understand that you want to have some neutral type REs. So, my suggestion is to make more pet-interaction-with-owner REs, pet-personality REs, and query-of-user-information REs.

Specific examples:

Ethuiladdie says, "I'm glad you're my mom" (can query owner gender)
Athelassie bounces across room and hugs Molly_G_Moo! (an action based on pet species and other pets... maybe a skeith would growl at her, a koi would blow bubbles...)
Molly_G_Moo says, "Tell me the story about your Cellblock! Trophy again!" (query of lookup)
Eowhinny says, "Can we take Bleat for a walk today?" (query of petpet)

Also, what if you established a questionnaire for pet personality... either make it random, created when the pet is created and shown after they are accepted/adopted, or else fillable by the owner. Then you could use that for personality REs.

A form I would use would look something like this:

This pet's favorite color is: _____ choices
This pet's main vice is being: impatient, lazy, hyper, gluttonous, greedy, etc
This pet's favorite item category is: stamp, special, meridell food, etc
This pet's favorite game category is: puzzle, action, luck
The nicest thing about the pet is that s/he: helps others, likes nature, ?
The pet's faerie alignment is: (and maybe you could make it species dependent, like koi's faerie alignment is always water, etc, or color dependent, changing if the pet becomes darigan or maraquan or gray)

I'm kinda getting overboard here but you get the idea. I'm sure you could think of much better ideas than I can.

Anyhow, the last thing I was going to mention was birthdays/anniversaries.
I know you get a real email from your pets on your birthday and I think neoanniversary. But I think it would be really nice if your chance of getting RE's went up on those days... and in a connected way, it would be nice if you guaranteed to have birthday-related "useless" REs leading up to, and on, your birthday, anniversary, and pet birthdays. e.g.:
Athelassie says, "You know, my birthday is coming up next week -- hint hint!"
Ethuiladdie says, "Happy Birthday Eowhinny!"
Eowhinny says, "Bleat is 2 years old today!"
Molly_G_Moo says, "Can I have a _____ for my birthday next week?"

And of course if you felt generous, a "profitable" style event IF they log in on that day. (I won't call that a random event, since it's not really random)
"Happy Anniversary! Athelassie, Ethuiladdie, Molly_G_Moo and Eowhinny all broke their snorkle banks and pitched in to get you a present: _________" - not always the same thing, either random item of a certain type, or please make multiple anniversary items, if you're going to bother with this idea

At any rate, something that gave you more actual interaction with your pets, and for them to acknowledge each other's existence, and for you to feel like they are more of a "personality" besides just a "look".

I would like to get something for an anniversary. I think there's quite a few people that would like that. ^^

Thanks These REs are really annoying and BIG THANKS to miz sparrow for great idea. But TNT don't care about us We can never see our new REs. Adam and Donna are very lazy... There's chance for new REs but TNT must know that EVERYONE wants these REs !

I haven't had a good random event in like 6 months. All of them have been things like 'A spider crawls across the page'.

As for TNT being lazy, look at the GREAT lost desert plot and the ever so clever current plot. They rock. They rock out loud.

I agree totally -- all RE's can't be good, nor valuable. And for those who are heckling TNT and saying they're lazy... shooooooooooooooooot. *points at stamps*

But I feel very strongly about having interaction with the pets. Right now I feel like the game would be almost the same even if I didn't have any pets. Yeah I know technically they are the ones playing the games with me.... but the only game you really play WITH your pet is kacheek seek!

You can use items on your pets, but you don't have to.

So imho, the best way to get interaction with pets would be through random events, which would be much more valuable as far as "stickiness" (ooh, someone's been looking at the press kit!) if they were actually relevant instead of "PETNAME's stomach is growling, you should get them a ITEM"... it doesn't even put in the pet's gender! if it can supply the pet name and a random item name, then it can supply the proper pronoun for the pet, too!

Anyway, I have gotten off subject. I really started posting this message to say that if you're afraid nobody will listen to me, but you agree--- then send them a similar message! I would be happy to have you also submit my idea- i'd be honored! The more people that want it, the more likely they are to consider it. Every single neopian has the opportunity to give suggestions and feedback. It doesn't cost anything but the time you spend writing it out.

My only requests are:
1. please don't just copy+paste what I said. If you want to use my thing as a sample to make yours, fine, but at least change the suggested quotes and petnames!!!

2. please don't ask them to take out all the bad RE's and put in all good ones. That would be bad for the economy and would ruin the game.

3. please don't suggest that they give us something for every birthday and anniversary. that is greedy and they'll look at it as you trying to get rich, not you trying to improve the game play experience.

They've said that for a while and that is my weekly editorial question (I'm approaching 6 years on neo) but have yet to put that in the editorial, I doubt anything will ever come of it.

Unless of course they are doing this in secret through REs

Most of my REs lately have been finding codestones or petpet lab map pieces, with very few bad ones and even less of the annoying chia ones.

Two out of every three random events that I've had (ever) have been two chias telling me I can put NeoBadges on my web page. I've named them Harold and Doug and we bowl together on Thursday nights and this summer we intend to drive across the border and tell President Fox that really, we don't "Neo-Stinking Badges!"

Okay, maybe that was too far for an obscure pun...

Well, of the two chias, one of them is Adee. The random event says, "Adee the Chia says..." I have no idea who the other one is. He can be Harold



The rest of your post is fine, but this is the part that really stuck out for me. It's not that this is a bad idea or anything. In fact, I am in favour of some more personality to the pets because, honestly, the pet you choose has very little affect on the game except for feeding (eg. kyriis are allergic to apples), the battledome (eg. Scorchios having fire reduction), and just recently, the Lutari being sent to the pound and avatars.

The reason I single this out is because, if you remember when you created your pet, you make certain decisions about their personality. After this decision, these details only reappear when you examine them in the pound. I'd like to see this more often. If nothing else, you can look it up on their petpage (this one, not the free homepage) or SOMETHING. I don't even know if they affect pets' attitude. Like, if one pet is chosen to be bookish, then they wouldn't consider ANY book boring, say. I don't remember any of the other personalities right now, but I know that this was one of them. It's a very weak version of the questionnaire, but at least it's something.

One of the other things I think is rather useless in terms of REs is the Lava Ghoul. As it is, the only time he's a danger is if he comes up on the Wheel of Excitement. It'd be nice (well, not nice exactly) if all these creatures from the Gallery of Evil could either attack the pets, or steal items like the other REs. Having them show up and just mock us really doesn't add any sort of feeling of relief, unlike the Grundo Commando yelling at us instead of stealing an item. But Adee the Chia is just shameless self-promotion, and a red poogle stopping by just to say "hi" is...
