Any Use for Shiny Astrolabe or Astronomy Badge?

Does anyone know what the Astronomy Club Membership Badge or the Shiny Astrolabe does? Do I need to keep them in my inventory???

As of now, there is no known use for it. The topic's already been discussed in the Altador Plot threads, but if you feel it should be discussed again, go ahead and do it... in the proper thread.
