Five Grundos took turns weighing themselves on a scale. However, they weighed each other two at a time, ten times total , so that every possible combination of two grundos was weighed. The scale had the following readouts for the pairs: 236 pounds, 244 pounds, 228 pounds, 250 pounds, 258 pounds, 230 pounds, 246 pounds, 238 pounds, 242 pounds, and 252 pounds.

How heavy was the heaviest Grundo?

Forgot to post that its been solved, not one of the tops but at least some spending cash. Still trying to find my Dreamer constellation.

I love math problems :D

The heaviest grundo is Image im guessing, because he has to wear a mask.

Hint: I think one hint is enough (see post below)

This is one of the conondrums which I can solve by myself :P

I found the answer through pure trial and error 0:)

Hint: The total weight of all 5 Grundos is 606 pounds.

pretty simple... I think were' all going to get less than 100nps for this one :P

they probably wanted to play a word trick on us, so my best advice is to think it mathematically :)

Gallion Count: 55/100 Ukali Count: 30/100 Now That's A Long Long way off...

Nope, not that complicated. Another hint: Each of their weight is an even number.

Gah, that is too simple. I solved it in 5 minutes and I failed Maths while in High School :roflol:

843: thanks for the hint ;) At least I know I got all the weights right

You're welcome, though it involves logic more
I think the many hours I spent on Sudoku finally pay off

Yeah, it does. At least I had a nice training in logic at my Calculus lessons on College :roflol: Your hint just helped me to see that I didn't need to double-check my calculation before submitting the answer, I got 606 as the total weight too :P

How can all of you solve it so easily? I'm having a lot of trouble on it.

Each Grundo's weight is an even number.
The total weight is 606.

I have absolutely no idea how to find out which is the heaviest. So I suppose I shall just guess.

I want them to do something a bit more math related, like using implicit derivatives in finding the velocity or height of something at a certain moment.

*Nerd.*

yea, I agree. Maybe taking a surface integral or something :)

They did have a cool physics problem during the lost desert plot, but not nearly as hard as it could have been.

Nah - too difficult - assuming it is actually a kids site. True that we adults are also hooked up, but I think thats not fair to them. Once in a while is Ok like the dubloon one 2 weeks back. Overall I do not mind getting low payouts, as an adult most of us should have other means to support myself, which most of us do.
I am happy when they give an easier problem, maybe this will get more kids hooked to maths and this is a relatively fun way to do it. I only started liking maths at high school anyway, when I realized I cannot look smart based on the genes I have ;)

i'm not sure if what i did was wrong but i added 2 of the given weights and then subtracted it to 606 and did this to all the weights until I got the highest, all the answers i got were even numbers, i just hope I got the right one

I really should train myself to not get my hopes up with Neopets because I'll just end up falling harder on the ground... face first!
