Sorry that the forum is loading slowly -- with all of us posting constantly about the plot, it's no wonder. Just be patient. :)

ATTENTION

!! Please do not just post to say "I got this" if it is of NO help to the thread.
!! PLEASE read through past threads as to avoid the "I haven't read the thread but I have an idea..." kind of posts.
!! PLEASE keep all posts on topic. If you would like to speak to someone personally or offtopic, PM them.

--> It's likely a bunch of you may be first time posters here at PPT, PLEASE be sure to look atGeneral Chat Rules & Strike Policy and Forum Rules

--> It is not your job to tell people when they're breaking the rules. That's what we have moderators for. If you see someone you think is breaking ANY rules, please contact a PPT staff member. Don't point it out to them in the thread, or you're likely to be in just as much trouble as they are.

--> If this thread gets to be a problem, consequences will follow to the appropriate people as well as permanent CLOSURE of the thread.

Remember: This is a MINI plot and with NO WAR portion.
Let's repeat. MINI PLOT and NO WAR.
One more time. MINI PLOT and NO WAR.

======== Links of interest =========
Last Thread: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25293
Altador: http://www.neopets.com/altador/index.phtml?

(Note: Make sure you click CONTINUE (if applicable) when you have completed each part!)
========= The Beginning ============
1. Click the big castle in the center of the map, The Hall of Heroes
2. In the very back-right corner, you'll see a familiar character. Click him!
3. Hey! It's our old friend again. Looks like he has a new job-- Janitor. Click that button that's next to him.
---> Hm, nothing happened.
4. Oh well, Now click the Altadorian Archives, then go into the doorway on the right.
5. Click the book that is under one of the table legs and balancing it.
---> Hm, we're going to have to replace it...
6. Now go to the QUARRY. And find a rock that'll be suitable. Stumped? Here.
---> Aha! A good replacement for that book...
7. Go back to the Altadorian Archives and click that same book again.
---> We can access the book now! (Located near the top-right part of the scene)
8. You can read the prologue from that book now.
---> Advance a page by clicking the top-right of the book, go back by clicking the top-left.
*** Page 1~3 Acquired! *** (out of 53 pages)
9. Go back to the Janitor in The Hall of Heroes and talk to him.
---> Hmm. We're going to need something to help oil some gears...
10. Click each statue until you find a bottle of oil & a rag.
---> Note: Location is different for each person. Perhaps you should write where you found it, just in case. (Although evidence indicates that it is NOT relevant)
11. Once you've found it, go back to the Janitor and click the button again.
---> The ceiling opens up! Let there be LIGHT!

======= We see the light =======
1. So it looks like the Astronomy club is finally advertising. Go to the Altador Archives and click the pamphlet that shows a telescope. Or click here!
---> You've recieved a telescope!
2. Go back to the Hall of Heroes and go up the staircase on the left side. Click the telescope holder.
---> It fits! You've found the cinderella! ... Actually I guess you found the slipper... oh whatever.
3. Now for the work. Get to it! Start mapping. By the way, Everyone's star formation is different from another. We can help with details, but you're going to have to interpret on your own from now on!
---> Excellent star mapper courtesy of DarkFire here. Follow the instructions on her post.
---> If you want to map your coordinates yourself in Excel, AngelFoxBlue wrote some pretty clear instructions on doing that here.

===== Constellations: Found! ======
1. THE SLEEPER
--> a. Go to The TOMB (bottom-left corner of the main Altador Map)
On the door of the tomb, the black dots are clickable. Try clicking it.
It lights up
--> b. Go to the Wise Lenny in The Altadorian Archives.
--> c. Go to the observatory and look in your telescope.
--> d. Find the exact formation found in part a (the orientation is as seen on the tomb doors-- it is NOT rotated in any way) and you will have found your first constellation! (Important note: You MUST connect the lines rather than just using "Add Star". If you don't, the correct stars can be rejected!)
--> e. After you have found it, go back to the Lenny at the Altadorian Archives.
*** Page 4~7 Acquired! ***
--> f. Go to the Hall of Heros and click on the DARK FAERIE (the one towards the bottom) and look up. The jewels are illuminated! (And the janitor complains of the light)
--> g. Check in with the Astronomy Club and see what they have to say about your discovery.

======= Enlightenment =========
All right, so here are the current points of interest.
* On the left side of The Hall of Heroes, there is now a staircase leading up to a dome-shaped room. Looks like a telescope is missing.
* If you click each statue in The Hall of Heroes, on the very top pixels /section of the picture of the statue, you can look up, and get some arrangement of gems. The following are the same for EVERYONE, here is the breakdown:
- 20 above King Altador
- 22 above Jerdana
- 22 above Siyana
- 22 above Kelland
- 19 above Florin
- 18 above Torakor
- 19 above Darkest faerie
- 22 above marak
- 16 above fauna
- 20 above Psellia
- 17 above Gordos
- 19 above Sasha
--> As well as a helpful compilation of the pictures by soymimi here
========================================
Any additions/corrections should be posted here.

I think you got the wrong end of the stick. I'm only saying that those now not willing to help someone who is having trouble are selfish.
Before you think I don't want to help people (since I'm the one complaining...) I've helped several people, and will most definatly continue doing so... But still...

Quote:
Some things can't be posted on the first post because each map is unique - if we just tell those that can't find a constelation that they are on their own what does that say about us? And we won't be having 12 times this by the end, we may still have the odd person being behind, but if we bother to help the rest, we should all be more or less at the same stage, meaning when number 12 comes out, we will mainly be helping those stuck on number 12.

Yes, every map is different, but you can still post an example screen shot. So people know how the stars should look like on their map --> shape, distance, angle etc is different then can be seen on the temple doors for example. Your mind will try to look for something it knows. And this works easier if you know what it EXACTLY looks like instead of "more or less".
Also: yes we will all advance, but very often people will pick up at stage 1 when we are already near 7. (I did that myself during the LDP)

Quote:
This thread is here to help people - what good is it to then turn round and say that someone is on their own? Fine, if a question is asked multiple times and it is on the front page, yes I do get irritated, but right now with each unique map, not helping those with problems is just, to me, not the PPT way.

I love to help people when they are stuck. But it also makes people lazy :P

It's not that hard to spot some stars :P, in 9 out of 10 cases they are really out there.... and that single case that has a wrong map? well... that's what we are here for :) picking them up and putting them on the right track again :D

Question: Why is this called a mini plot?
Because when you enter the archives you can see 5 clubs a player can join...5!, and this astrology club alone can already take up weeks to complete :)

Blame people for having a life, and having Neopets as "merely" a hobby. We're not all 16 year old kids w/too much free time or people who are blessed to spend work time on the Internet.

In that regard it makes no sense for time/efficiency to read through all the threads of the plot here which are a plain mess of all kind of wide theories and redundant posts though also some posts are informatice. I've been moderator on a big forum, and one of the things i learned there is that "centralisation" can be overdone just like "decentralisation" can be overdone. Hence i do not understand why a popular thread w/a plot subject is not splitted better into subcategories, subthreads and/or subforums.

OTOH whoever is bothered by this can just read the summary when stuck and blend that together w/some common sense ;)

The news is out, btw.

Doesn't look like anything's changed in Altador, though.

Unless, of course, I've missed something.

Listen up everyone, I don't want to have to discuss this anymore

1) This is THE only altador thread we're going to have. ANYTHING that has to do with this plot will STAY in this thread unless agreed upon by the moderating crew. Got that?

2) This is a board to HELP people out with the plot. If you do not wish to help others that's fine. Don't. If you DO need assistance AND there are people willing to help, LET them. NO MATTER how you feel. We are here to help in any way possible. If people are having a hard time finding the Sleeper, then we welcome them to post for help. Maybe they'll be helped, maybe they wont. Its up to the members to decide if they want to help.

NO MORE DISCUSSION about this. It is FINAL.

And I want to stress that you DO NOT POST simply that "yay i found it" or something like that. and DO NOT post your long string of stars that INSANELY stretches the page.

That is all.

A forum is a place where people go when they need help. It sometimes makes sense to create a separate thread, but such was just done (here: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 495#551495) but now I find that I have to be two places at once if I wish to both help and keep up on current information (regardless of how redundent the posts are).

The way to keep threads clean is to try to PM as much as possible, keep your opinions to yourself (because 100 others are likely to have just as strong opinions and post them, like I am being a hypocrite right now). :P

Hello *waves* me again. Just dropping in to tell you that I've added a nifty (read "not really but just pretend it is") feature to the mapper. That is correct folks you heard correct! :D

Now if you click the "Show Guide" checkbox a bunch of circle will appear that you can drag over your map until you find some little dots that fit exactly into the little circles and there you have you're constellation. See? Told you it's nifty!

[Starts bowing] Great work, and thank you ahead of time. Is it just set up for the DF or does it include all 12 patterns?

Again, thanks.

For the moment it only has DF cause I don't have the specific pattern for the other's yet. It wouldn't help much anyway, the other's aren't there yet, they only update your map to add the constellation after you found the clue.

Very nice job, great thinking too!

I'll personally try to always find it myself before using this nice new feature, I like torturing myself a bit from time to time, but it's very great as some sort of last resort, so great job, really!

I should really try to learn flash some time... :) I've been wanting too do so for ages, but I just can't find the time to do so...

That's really wonderful and I'm certain will help a lot of people. I've been surprised by what you've done thus far, realizing how hopelessly I've fallen behind in programming since the kids lol. I hope in the 'real' world you are using your powers for good ..grins..

Hello, PPTers! Long-time lurker, first-time poster here :D

I am in need of help. The star mapper made by darkfire (thank you sooo very much for making it for everyone!) does not match up with the sky that shows up when I look up throught the telescope o_O . Here are the two images for you:

Darkfire's mapper: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v650/a_gryphons_rage/StarMapper.jpg

Telescope:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v650/a_gryphons_rage/SkyScope.jpg

If anyone could help me with this, I would be extremely grateful. I couldn't have done the LDP without you guys, so I trust that someone here can help ^^

Aye same here, this way you don't have to use it, in fact this way it's not even a spoiler until you turn it on. Or that's how I figured either way. I didn't use it myself to find mine (I didn't have it yet obviously) so I have no idea whether it actually helps or not.

Any feedback or ideas on how to improve, throw it this way please :D

{It's basically C++ and the help file is pretty useful, this is only my second flash prog, my first one was a meerca chase (just to see if I could do it) it was of course called The Squirrel Game! :P }

Looks nice! Think you could make it automatically align it to where it's supposed to be if the person's get_star_data includes that constellation? It should be pretty easy, the format they use is simple to understand.

Also, I'm having a bit of trouble dragging it... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You might want to look into it.
