It's not working yet, but when it is, I've noticed it in these sections:

Shop
Bank
SDB
Changing your e-mail
Disowning pets

I'll be using it for the bottom two things, for sure. Has anyone noticed it anywhere else?

Well I certainly won't be using this. I'm constantly taking things in and out of my bank and SDB, and my shop and gallery often as well, and it would be a real pain. And the ones where it wouldn't be a pain I wouldn't use often enough, and I'd forget the PIN.

Add to that that no one's ever been in my account without my knowledge and permission (and no one at all since they made the rule change!) and I know how to protect myself. It all comes out to something that's no help at all.

I'd rather they work on making it so no one can get into the account in the first place.

I won't be using it for my bank/shop/sdb/gallery, as I move NP and items around a lot, but I will definitely be setting a PIN for the other things. I feel my account's very safe, but in the unlikely event I ever do get cookiegrabbed or whatever, it will be nice to know that no one can unequip my expensive BD equipment, disown my pets, or lock me out of my account by changing the password/e-mail. I'd like TNT to fix all their security issues, too, but I think this PIN feature is great, and a definite step in the right direction, security-wise.

The pin for the pound, does that mean you can put a pin on a pet you want to transfer to prevent someone else from adopting it before you?

Won't this result in a pound full of pets that no-one can remove due to the pin?

The pin for the pound means that you have to enter your PIN before you can disown a pet. It's not pet-specific, but it ensures that only you can disown a pet, and not someone who's got into your account by force.

I tested the pin a few days ago, and when I entered my pin on the shop stock page to update prices, it told me I had the wrong number, no matter how many times I tried. I went into the change your pin page, and disabled the pin system with the same pin.

That put me off the whole thing.

Which is impossible. Neopets can't discontinue every single cookie grabber site, Neopets cannot prevent people from accidently sharing secret question answers (does Neopets even have those? I don't recall.), and finally, Neopets cannot prevent the less-than-smart people who tell strangers their password.

As for me, I'm not bothering with the pin number thing. I don't go on the neoboards, and really only my good friends and PPTers know my Neopet's username.

I might have made the front page post a big too soon... is it working for any non-premium users yet?
