I've been playing neopets for years but I still consider myself a newbie since all i do is earn NPs.

I have a pet that i've been zapping with the lab ray but he's still at lvl 1 thought with good stats.

can someone give me a link or explain to me what the stats and levels uses are for ?

thanks

The stats have various uses.

Attack: aparently makes you pet's attack stronger in the BD
Defense: aparently makes your pet's defense better in the BD
Movement: Determines if you or your opponent attack first in the BD. In the Lost Desert Plot, it affected how long you had to wait until you could take more sand from the repository.
Intelligence: not sure. Mostly an indication of how many books you've read.
Health: self-explanatory, generally only used in the BD

Level: this generally only affects the max stat a pet can learn in the various schools. If you have a stat more than 2x your level, you have to boost your level to learn ANYTHING. Also affects how quickly pets learn at the schools. (oddly enough, the higher the level, the longer it takes to learn)

Certain battledome items also make use of INT and MOV. If your pet has the minimum requirement for those stats, the items become stronger. Such as the cloaks and tunics.

Actually, I believe movement currently does nothing (unless used with a few BD items that require a certain movement stat to do special things). Who goes first in a fight is determined by who clicks "go" first -- the person who clicks first actually goes second, and the person who clicks second goes first. This can affect things like reflectors. There's an article about it here (the IDB -- requires registration).

Levels are only needed if you want to sent your pet to school.

Levels also determine what abilities your pet may receive from bottled faeries.

And at level 50, you get Beserk, which I like to use a lot. :)
