neopets lost password?

Wed Jan 18, 2006 12:56 am

hey,

Lately I have been getting e-mails, every few days, from neopets sending me my password (they're just the generic e-mail they send when you have lost your password.) The problem is that I haven't lost my password, and I haven't filled out the form to get my lost password.

I have changed my neopets (as well as my personal e-mail) password several times because of this. Do you know why this would be happening to me so often (and how I could get it to stop!) ?

edit: this has been happening for the last month or so

Perhaps someone else is filling our the lost password form for you? I can only imagine that either someone wants to get into your account, or your account name is the same as one from ages ago, before the wipe, and that other person doesn't know it, and wants his/her account back. There could be many other reasons for this happening, but these are the first that came to my mind.

If tnt changed it so that you had to put in both the email address and the username on the password request form then that would fix the problem but I don't think that there's anything else you can do about it.

As long as noone can get into your email account, then they shouldn't be able to get your password. So I wouldn't worry too much.

Try putting a simple note on your userlookup, asking "whoever it is to stop
sending code requests to my email". Something along those lines, so if it
is the case of you taking someone's former username they'll understand.

Just be careful.

I get 3 lost password requests a day a few days a week.

From what I can tell, someone is trying to get into my account and the rocket scientists they are don't realize that they actually need access to my e-mail account to get it. :P

To keep you account safe, make sure you're not using hotmail/msn for the e-mail linked to your account. Also have a fairly complex p/w and never use the same password for both your neopets account and your e-mail. :)
