MORE World Challenge changes

Thu Feb 09, 2006 1:15 am

This is the worst change yet, in my opinion.

Now when you earn a picture piece, it does not go automatically into your picture, but into your inventory. This means that you no longer only earn pieces you don't have. In three tournaments, I have won one 2.11 piece and two 2.20 pieces. This is going to make it much harder to get a full picture (as some pieces seem rarer than others) and is just a major headache for the poor WCers. Why can't they STOP MAKING THINGS HARDER for us!? We gamers already make less than restockers!

Anyone know where we can complain about this? Is the editorial the best place? I'm definitely going to write, and I suggest anyone else who does WCs do the same.

Edit: Here is the editorial form. Just write something quick about how it sucks that pieces go into our inventory now instead of directly into our pictures. I really hope they change this back!

My sister is a hardcore WC player and just five minutes before you posted this, she was complaining to me about the change. I agree that it's already difficult enough and quite time consuming to finish certain maps--I have yet to finish one and this will make it even harder for me. I'll be sure the both of us writes to the Editorial!

I'm really mad about this. I'm just about to complete my first map, and now I'll never be able too. The only good thing that could possibly come of this is that the pieces are going to become easy-to-sell incredibly fast. This is going to completely tear apart the challenge map economy.

Ok

OK, I just sent one into them. This is complete and utter bogus to ALL players and disgusting to be honest. Extremely disgusting.

All this wil ldo is allow ppirce gaugers to gauger and Autobuyers to be even more successful in everything now.

DISGUSTING ADAM FOR YOU LETTING THEM DO THIS! What happened to your goal of this site and letting it be fair huh?

I sent one too. I don't get their stated reason for the change at all. Since the pieces were already given out in random order, it seems like the change only serves to make it more difficult for everyone to complete maps, and won't stop the hoarders from buying up all of one piece.

that is exactly what I told TNT. It would screw us who enjoy playing the WC once and a while, and those who do it as in come, SO much it's not even comprenhendable.

Way to go TNT! :x

This isnt good, but there were some bad things happening with WC pieces

A couple of weeks ago, certain ppl decided they would buy up all of a certain piece in certain maps, making it impossible to then complete the whole map. Their apparent purpose was to drive up the selling price of a whole map on the trading post. Prices are still high and havent recovered.

I heard this from a WC seller. He reported them, and they were frozen.

The example is Terror Mountain piece 2.1 that along with a certain piece from certain maps became unbuyable.... what these ppl then did was fill their gallery with every piece except 2.1.. play a game , win that missing 2.1 piece and then take out the 2.1 and do the same again.

I have a feeling that this newest change could have something to do with that. since the pieces going into inventory will now stop that happening.

Its very sad that scammers and cheats have to effect so much on neopets and ruin it for the genuine hard working WC players......

The problem is that some pieces seem to be rarer than others, so it'll still be harder to get certain pieces. We'll just be stuck with tons of the common pieces and the harder-to-get ones will inflate even more. That doesn't solve the scamming problem -- it just ruins the game for everybody.

Yes, lets hope the random allocation of pieces is done evenly right throughout the 20 pieces........

I had noticed this change and thought that it was just a glitch. I was just 2 peices away from completing a map to. :(

I'm thinking of putting my extra pieces in the TP and trying to trade for pieces I don't have. If anyone else does the Krawk Island and Lost Desert 2 maps, send me a PM and we can swap.

what these ppl then did was fill their gallery with every piece except 2.1.. play a game , win that missing 2.1 piece and then take out the 2.1 and do the same again

I still don't understand why this is a problem. It didn't prevent anyone else from earning their own 2.1 piece, as this change does. If anything, it caused there to be more 2.1 pieces on the market. And if the change drives prices down, it seems like it would become even easier to hoard all of a certain piece on the market.

That's exactly the thing. The point of World Challenges was to give a way for people good at games to excel at Neopets without having to mess with shops and stuff. This makes it even easier for people to hoard because now, people actually have to buy from the hoarders instead of winning their own pieces.

Thu Feb 09, 2006 4:40 am

Yes. With World Challenges, people who were really good at a game could win 20 competitions, earn 20 pieces and have a full map. It may not have been hard for us (if we were one of the top people at a game, anyway), but it took a lot of time -- you can only get one piece per hour from each game, after all. Now we may have to play 30 or even 40 WCs to get the 20 pieces we need, or we'll have to buy from shops or trade with others. That makes this hard and time-consuming -- not to mention, like I said, some of the pieces are rarer, so people aren't going to want to trade them for "cheap" pieces. For those of us who earn full maps to sell as a set on the TP, this is going to make it so we're earning less. This just ruins everything, and I hope the people in charge of WCs see that and change it back.

Oh, this change is the worst, the absolute pits! There's only a few games I can actually get a decent enough score to even enter the WC and hopefully complete a map. I'm one piece away from completing a haunted woods 1 map - which I'd decided I was actually going to convert and start collecting the WC 2 pieces to sell.

Like most people who primarily play games for np, the WC maps, when we completed them, were a decent way to occasionally (or weekly, depending on how good you are at games) make some extra np by selling the full maps.

Seems like every time we turn around either the np payout for a game's been lowered, games we've come to love get "retired" to the graveyard and now the constant changes to the WC as one more way to frustrate us.

I too will be writing in about this. I didn't know about this game piece hoarding, to be honest. And I can understand that TNT wants to stop that. But this won't do it. It'll probably just discourage gamers from even entering the WC. Getting the pieces in inventory means a better chance of getting a bad RE that takes the pieces; ending up with a few of the same ones and having to spend the extra time figuring out which pieces are needed for a map. And it won't have the desired effect - stopping someone from trying to hoard and inflate a harder to get piece.

Thu Feb 09, 2006 5:05 am

oh no!!! I have only 1 piece to go!

The problem for me is that I am only an average gamer. I work hard to earn a piece. :( But I get through it, knowing there is a prize at the end. Now it will take me soooooooo much longer to get a complete map. Honestly, I probably won't try as often.

What's different about hoarding WC pieces, or someone fixing prices by buying up everything on the wizard? The way it was, you knew if you played and won, you'd get a piece you need. Now I will find myself at the mercy of the hoarders and price fixers for that elusive piece and you know what?? I'm a slave to no man!! See ya world challenge!
