THIS ACCOUNT HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED.

You have been SUSPENDED for the following reason:

Ahem. these boards ARE monitored 24/7 by REAL staff members (even on holidays) so play nice! If you want to report an abuse go to http://www.neopets.com/autoform_abuse.p ... use=report

Your suspension will end in 71 hours and 56 minutes.

At that time you will be able to return to the site with your account and pets safely intact. Please make sure to read the Terms and Conditions and our NeoRules while you wait for your suspension to end. You are being given another chance here. Do not lose your account PERMANENTLY by breaking the rules in the future.

The heck did I do? Is there an email I can contact to ask about my suspension.

To my knowledge I did nothing to break the ToC/S

Looks like you were trying to "backseat mod" or something. Did you post in a thread telling someone that what they were doing was wrong/bad/reportable/etc.? TNT seems to prefer if you stay out of the thread entirely and just report it if it's that bad.

Wow, this is the first suspension I've heard of for this reason, but I have seen other people get warnings for saying something like, where's the mods? or there aren't enough mods or there's no mods around ... things like that.

I think it depends on who IS actually monitoring what board at the time.

Were you on a board or said anything at all like that? Even joking or telling someone else that there are mods around all the time? I've seen warnings for people telling someone else something's against the rules, etc. (which makes no sense to me if you're being polite and just trying to help out).

A 3 day suspension seems kind of harsh, IMHO.

I highly recommend that everybody stay away from the boards. Why take the chance?

Kinda sounds like there is a new mod/s ..

The punishment is rather harsh even if someone was trying to tell someone something is aginst the rules. That's how a lot of players learn what they can and can not do on Neo. Unfortunately alot of people don't bother to read the TOC when they sign up with Neo, so the boards is where they learn the ropes.

Since when is "backseat mod'ing" not allowed on Neopets? I have never heard of that happening before, and it's not in the TAC/TOS or FAQ at all. That's insane. At least you just got suspended. The Neoboards need to be deleted, and Neopets needs to have a chat with their staff about consistancy.

I get very annoyed when people say this.

The policy on the NeoBoards is exactly the same as on PPT — If you do something wrong, you will get punished. I cannot say why anyone particular may have been frozen (and bear in mind that this comment isn't intended to be directed at anyone in particular), bit I find that in general, people who create threads like this are less innocent than they appear (as I said, not implying it at anyone).

I used to speak to someone over AIM, and we were on a chat board, and they were calling everyone New Member. They IMed me and announced that they were frozen, and were saying how unfair it was. If you flamed someone here, you will be punished. I have to say that you are very lucky here, as it is a more mature society and we let you get away with quite a bit more, but with a low tolerance level becuase of a much lower average age on Neopets, I feel that offences should be taken more seriously.

One day I was raising debates on the neoboards about the av banners, with a large amount of the content really not suitable for the board. I expected to be frozen, but instead I got a Neomail from theneopetsteam telling me that Neopets are no in charge of the banners, and to contact them if I see anything wrong. I really expected to be frozen, but the staff were friendly, polite and understanding, and suggested that I stop, and they apologised for the content of the banners. I doubt very much that saying 'i like cheese' will get you banned if the above happened. (The one time I was frozen, incidentally, was because my brother thought it would be funny if I were to post 'freeze me' on the neoboards. I was frozen, but there was a form to a reclaim form, which I didn't fill in because it was my secondary account anyway.)

I would like to say, as a disclaimer (even though I said it all the way through) that this is not directed at everyone, or even anyone in particular. I know as much as I do about your cases as you do about my cow. However, I am saying that in general punishments are oftne much less random than you people think. People trying to get sympathy will never said "I was scamming people and got frozen", becuase they want people to go 'aww... sorry... have a cookie' This is definitely the case at PPT. I have been contacted on AIM once saying "Why did you ban person X. All they did was double post once." The record of this person said that they were a consistent spammer, promoting evil sites. It's not human nature to tell the truth if it makes you look bad.

Please don't anyone take offense at this (especially the guy who started the thread, complete coincidence that it turned up in your thread, I was just getting a little ennerved by the unhalting posts of 'neoboards are evil', 'monitors are evil', 'bot bot bot' etc.). This is not intended as a flame to anyone.

Stay off the boards. Seriously. If you want to keep your account for any appreciable amount of time, for the love of meepits, stay off the neoboards. It's too easy to make a mistake, and sometimes you don't even have to, all you have to do is slightly annoy somebody to get reported. I know TNT swears up and down they check all these reports for validity, but I find that hard to believe given some of the results and especially given the sheer volume of reports they must get. I can't see how an army of them would have the time.

Just be thankful it's only a suspension and not a freezing. If you want to chat with other neopets members, you're better off chatting someplace like here instead.

1. I get very annoyed when people say this.

2. I really expected to be frozen, but the staff were friendly, polite and understanding, and suggested that I stop, and they apologised for the content of the banners.

1. When such a massive and uncontrollable (well, almost) thing such the boards has to be managed by few people, there's plenty of space for mistakes. We don't say that they decide randomally about freezing, we just say that the chance of being unjustifiably frozen is bigger, because it is our nature as humans is to err here and there. In PPT, for example, the chance is much smaller, because less people have to be managed and there's way less spam here.

2. I think that you're way too strict with yourself, maybe too submissive. I don't know what about you, but I always thought that players should have the attitude of "I didn't have any bad intentions and didn't harm anyone, I shouldn't be frozen!" and not - sorry if sounds rude, couldn't phrase it differently - "Oh I've been a bad boy, freeze me TNT", especially if you did something as harmless and innocent as complaining about the inappropriate banners. You - lets say we - should really start treating TNT and its monitors as people who you can disagree with and can make mistakes. They're humans too.

The problem with the neoboards isn't the staff. The problem as I see it has always been the users - they are very quick to report other users for what they perceive to be rulebreaking, and I don't think that the neopets staff (including monitors) has the time to go over every single abuse report, and then check out the circumstances surrounding that report. I think that in a lot of cases they take the word of the person who files the report. They may go over a few, or even most, but it's the one that is false that they don't catch that creates a negative feeling about the boards.

I was threatened to be frozen on the boards once, and it shook me away for a year - all I said was something to the effect of "don't believe everything that you read," and a flood of posts followed saying, "Are you calling me a liar! You're reported for harrassment!" They were all by one guy, and I'm sure he was frozen (I didn't follow up). But the point is, there is just too much going on there, or has been in the past, for me to trust them today.

Same reason I don't trust, say, Charles Manson.

I personally have never had a problem with the Neoboards, and I've been playing for 4 and a half years. I only occasionally use the boards, and even then, I only go to the Help Chat and try to answer those questions which have been ignored. I stay away from any topics that may seem the slightest bit controversial. I think one of the major problems is the link that says "Report this message". There needs to be a more in-depth way of reporting someone, in my opinion.

Back on the real topic of this thread: I am sorry to hear about PPT members accounts being suspended, and I hope that you can get an honest answer about why this occurred.
