Next year we are going to have a new swamp world and in that world may be Bogshot Village, based on the trading cards. I was surfing the web trying to find out more about bogs and swamps to get some ideas for things to send to neopets. Since I know some of the staff hang out here, I thought I'd post some interesting links and then I'll send a letter to them too.

Bog Butter:

Well I never heard of this before, but long ago people used to bury things in the bogs to keep them cold. Butter was one of the things they buried. I guess they would actually eat the butter after a time, or maybe it was an offering. We don't know, but people have found the butter even three hundred years later. No one has dared try to eat it, but they say it is still hard and yellow and creamy.

Neopets could have something like the fishing hole, only you bring up other kinds of foods that have been stored in the bog. I don't know if you'd want to eat it though. :)

You can find Cloudberries in Swamps and bogs. (I'd never heard of one before today.)

You can also find cranberrys and blueberrys in swamps/bogs but I like the cloudberry better because it just sounds like a neopet's item.

Also a person can make tea out of blueberry leaves, braid grasses into baskets, and use the bark of paper birch for crafts. A person could even eat the inner bark of birch trees to keep from starving.

Also I like all the carnivorious plants found in bogs or swamps, such as sundew, venus fly trap and water pitcher plant. I'm not sure about the skunk cabbage, if it is a carnivorous plant or just smelly, but it is interesting.
