I was just browsing Neocolours and found an interesting table listing estimated pet sizes ( http://www.neocolours.co.uk/other/petsizes.cgi ).

I think most Neopets are pretty cute on screen but if I were ever to see one that size standing next to me...*shudder* Creepy. I'd be eye to eye with an Eyrie (yeah, I'm short) and my Blumaroo would be bigger than any dog I've ever owned. Like I said before, creepy.

Anyhoo, just thought I'd share this fun random info with y'all in case you've never seen it before. Enjoy!

:D

I can't imagine a jubjub being that big. But, I'd imagine an Elephante to be much bigger than a Kau

I imagined grarrl to be bigger, flotsam to be bigger, elephante to be a lot bigger, chomby to be bigger, scorchio to be smaller, eyrie to be a tad smaller, usul to be smaller... Man, not what I expected

it says my ruki should be next to the kacheek, my bori should be next to the koi. I expected them both to be bigger.

The species sizes haven't been official since practically year two. They're just something that's NEVER been updated, and would probably just be removed if anyone on the staff cared to notice how nonsensical they are.

The idea was probably that they'd be born tiny and grow over time, but they never did anything with it.

Yes, Eyrie are huge. XD I was zapping one, and it turned into a Darigan Pteri... so it was a 5'2" Darigan Pteri. Which is scary, really. That's bigger than ME. o.o;;

I wound up giving her to a friend, but yeah.. the point is... really big scary bird. XD

Ha! Thanks Oh Great Llama of Eternal Sunshine! All my favorites are not even longer than my arm  , but I bet if I had one it would chase my dog around more than I do. Imagines a .4 m tall Zafara chasing/riding his dog.

I thought the reason the Flotsam and Jetsam are so small is that they were originally goldfish?

Neopets ignores pet size differences in the official art for the most part. As an Eyrie fan I did notice the flavor text on on one of the Eyrie cards -- I can't look it up right now as I can't get the site to load for some reason, but it says something to the effect that an Eyrie has a noble heart to match its noble stature. So at least at times Neopets remembers that Eyries are really big. :-)

I usually think of my Eyrie as being quite large, not quite tall enough to look me in the eye (I'm 5'9") but close. I think of all of my other pets as larger than their official sizes. (I tried to get the relative sizes right in my signature, actually, although I think my Eyrie came out a little too small. On the other hand, the eyrie is crouching in that pose.)

If Eyries weren't big, how would their owners and siblings ride them? (That seems to be a common role that Eyries play in stories in the NT, actually.)

The thing is, all this is ridiculous because if you look at how neopets are portrayed by TNT artists, different species are always shown as being around the same size.

On the other hand, I am greatly amused by the fact that my eyrie is bigger than a horse and yet can survive on a diet of omelets and jelly. xD

Just curious - how big do you guys prefer to imagine pets to be? I generally think of them as dog-sized or smaller - it's just creepy to have them be bigger than me! :P

I kinda always pictured them to be about Pikachu size or a small-medium sized dog. :)

Yeah, the official neopets sizes, especially weight, are ridiculous at best. I've always had the notion that the average neopet height is around 3 feet, with 1-2 feet being the average for smaller species, and 4-6 feet being the average for larger ones. Three feet is what seems to be the most common height for other own-your-own-monster type creatures, Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, etc. That way certain species can be assigned into their own species averages. Jujubs have always been small in my mind, so one 1.5 feet tall would be ordinary, while one 3 feet tall would be unusual, but not as scary as one 6 feet tall with rockets and missle launchers strapped to its back. I myself am nearly 6 feet tall, so 3 feet may still be a little to big for most people who play Neopets, relatively speaking.

My Darigan eyrie is large enough for me to ride, as long as we're heading into a war she'll tolerate it, my kyrii about 3 ft, my jubjub about a 1.5 ft, and my lab rat robot kacheek about 2.5. I'd say my largest pet is my Darigan grarrl who is intentionally larger than normal and about 7 ft.

I guess I normally think of my Neopets height as relative to mine. As I said, I'm 5'9". My ideas about size are, all things considered, rather vague.

I think of my Eyrie as being slightly taller than I am seated and drawn up to her full height, which makes her just a little bit shorter than me, standing. I think that would be large enough to ride on.

My Dargian Peophin I figure comes up to mid-torso when seated in the circle pose. My Darigan Zafara I figure is about waist-high or a little less.
My Aisha I think of as being about the size of a medium-sized dog: larger than a domestic cat, but still small enough to sit in your lap or be carried about in a pinch.

On my secondary account I also have three pets, but they're newer and not really "my" pets -- they're wild pets who happen to be friends of the family. So I haven't thought about it as much. :-) I guess the Faerie Pteri is about the size of a large parrot. The Maraquan Buzz I think of as being the size of a biglobster. (Note that big lobsters in the wild are quite a bit larger than what you see in the tank at the grocery store.) The Maraquan Draik is hard to imagine for me since they're so horzontal, but I'd say larger than my Peophin and smaller than my Eyrie.

Despite benig so large, my Eyrie thrives on a diet of mostly Pepsi, with the occasional rice ball. It must be magic Pepsi.

The award for heaviest pet as far as I know, went to my pet Anarcheck on my old account. He weighed 1251 lbs when I was frozen and I had supplies for another 350 lbs to be gained in my SDB... He was 20 cm (8 inches) tall, so that mutant elephante was the size of a soccerball and weighed more than half a ton :D

I have info on his petpage about height and weight:
http://petpages.neopets.com/~Anarcheck#weight
http://petpages.neopets.com/~Anarcheck#height

The current heaviest pet that I know of is Scowlserz
