If you referred someone whos already a member who joined for you, and then you signed up for them also, would this be against the rules?

It never really says theycant already be a member...and that would be a great way to get neopoints/items

As long as the account is used as a side account later on I don't see why not.

If you just created the account to get a referral I don't think that's allowed

I guess you can do that but to answer your question it IS against the rules.
