I'm looking to raise my pet's intelligence level. What are the cheapest books on the market?

I think Neopian Times Issue (something) is pretty cheap. Usually under 50NP.

I don't know if they're THE cheapest, but Mystery of the Kougra Paw runs under 200NP, and a Waterlogged Book is somewhere around/under 500NP now, probably decreasing since it's an Underwater Fishing catch (I think it requires a fishing level in/above the 40s or so). Those are the only ones I'm sure of...

A great way to increase your pet's intelligence without buying books is playing Cliffhanger. There's a great guide right here on PPT that you can use to ensure that you never lose a game :) http://www.pinkpt.com/cliffhanger.htm

And I thought Neopian Times Issue 3 was just a useless item, not readable? o_O

No, you can read it, I did so a while back.

For cliffhanger, do you get more intelligence boosts for playing the harder levels, or is it random?

Also, if you reach the daily neopoint limit, can you keep on getting intelligence boosts?

Yeah, you can still get the boosts after reaching the daily NP limit... unless they've changed that very recently, which I doubt since it's an old neglected game. And I think they're awarded at random, but I always play the hardest level anyway just to be sure - it's still very hard to lose when you use PPT's guide.

And interesting tip about Issue 3... I'll have to stop instantly donating those every time I get them from Tombola if they're readable o.o

Can you increase intelligence by reading a book more than once?

If you read the same book again your neopet will say the already read it.
So no it won't increase your neopets intelligence.

Unless, of course, it happens to be a book that the Deserted Fairgrounds Wheel of Misfortune has made your pet forget.

(I stopped going to that Wheel when that happened to me.)

Most of the Bootastic Books (from Krelouder) can be bought under 1k. Also, try heading to the auction and find books. You can usually get lucky and get a book for half the price. :)

Location: It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a Grue.
Also, booby-prize books from the wheel of knowledge are pretty cheap. Or any books that are booby-prizes, like the waterlogged book, illusen's novel, wheel of monotony books, advent calender books. Try going to neoitems and looking up R101 books for a starter list.

There's an entire list of cheap books at this site: The Neopian Orphanage. All books less than 1100 np or your money back!

That simplifies this whole conversation then. :D

Of course, if everyone goes and uses that list, those books would then be made more expensive. Get them cheap while you still can. ;)
