Payout has been cut in half.

The graphics are far superior, if a bit "busy." The "flying over the villages" thing is a nice touch, but it can get a bit distracting as the game gets faster.

Weapons I've picked up so far:
Ptershot: Standard laser. The powerup is a blue bubble with three lines in it.
Pterboom: It's a purple spinning powerup. Like the Tadow in the old game. It's a boomerang that, rather than coming back, weaves across the screen.
Fireball: A red powerup with a dot in the middle. Just what it says. This one becomes a split-shot weapon as it powers up, in addition to gaining power. Level two is a V-shot, level three is a three-prong shot, and level four fires three waves of fire. My favorite weapon so far.
Pterpod: The Green powerup. It starts firing three weapons in a T-pattern. Then it becomes a split shot in a V pattern, and at level four, a laser-like device. Frankly, I preferred level three to level four. It had a fast shot speed and a decent spread.

Generally, I like it. The best part about this game is that, unlike the old game, dead pteradons don't leave a "shadow" that can cause others to fly through your bullets. They get hit, they blow up, simple as that. The shadow was really only a problem at higher levels in the old version, but it was very frustrating. That problem, as far as I can tell, has been solved.

Also, the grarrl is moderately more avoidable. I haven't seen the gigantic ubergrarrl that was an unholy terror in the old version, but I can only assume he's still in the code somewhere...lurking...waiting for my guard to drop...

Great redesign with updated pet colours (now the grarrl just looks cute) but critic would be that this game starts to lag for me on levels 12+

Big difference in upper levels is that pterodactyls (non-neo name I think) have more hp then.

I'm so loving this new version. In the later levels you also have to dodge powerups since they're so plentiful and they'll screw you over so fast. Personnally, i can even get more than 1400 points though

Dunno. I love the new graphics. I'm not loving the reduced payout. I miss some of the old weapons. I especially miss the fact that you no longer get an extra life every 2 levels, which means I usually die REAL fast.

Interesting that you seem to be able to hit the Grarrl in this version.

Credit where credit is due: I like the fact that all the weapons seem to start at 1 hit = 1 kill on the low-scoring brown guys. I also like the fact that there seem to be more powerups -- while it makes them harder to dodge later in the game, at least you don't have the sometimes drawn-out wait for decent powerups you sometimes had at the beginning of the old game.

To add to shapu's list...

PterShot-
Level 1- Single blue laser, hits brown
Level 2- Single blue laser, hits green
Level 3- Single blue laser, hits blue
Level 4- Single blue laser, hits silver

PterBoom-
Level 1- Single purple tadow, hits brown
Level 2- Two purple tadow, hits green
Level 3- Two purple tadow, hits blue, goes through enemies?
Level 4- Two large purple tadow, hits silver, goes through enemies

The update's pretty cool. I kinda like how the Grarrl swings at you, and when you hit it, it has stars around its head and instantly retreats.

I've always been bad at this game, but at least now it is much more pretty and the graphics are better :)
The old one was so...primitive :P

I'm not to sure if this holds true for all levels. In later levels it took me two shots to kill a blue.

Thanks for the info guys. I've compiled it all into one guide.

What I miss in the first release of Pterattack was the amount of times you could upgrade XD I remember a red gun in Pterattack that literally took up half the screen (hugs it)

Hold onto your seats people... the SL is back.

I love the update! I'm actually pretty good at it now. 2,785 Points. The fire ball is my favorite weapon.

Tch...I scored 3340 and was 45 points from a brozen trophy. -.-
Fireball is my favorite.
Looking at my game...
You get a life up at 500 points, 1500 points and 3000 points.

The game revamp is great and all,but I have to say the lag time at 2500+ points is just plain absurd. I used to get 3 shots off,but when the screen is swarmed with dactlyes, it's impossible to get more then one shot off. Unless you grab your power up again. Some reason it'll boost you back to 2 shots for a bit.

I dunno if this is happening for anyone else though.
This is the only game I'm good at. -.-

...so it was the shadows that kept killing me in the old game. i never did get why I kept dying.

EDIT: got level 4 and 500 points mixed up. BTW all dactlyes seem to give 5 points. White don't give you a "hit" image, which is weird.

EDIT2: I made a game guide for this game, so anyone care to check it to make sure I got everything right. I forgot the green power ups though.

Yes this game is much better I think the graphics has had the best change and it's good how every dactyl gives 5 points my favourite weapon was the pod but I changed and it's the fireball one now my best score is 1500 and more which is good for me but the np payout has decreased but it's much easier to get points :)
