Its a new thing on google.ca that claims to speed up your web loading time. If I were to use this on neopets for restocking (ie speeding up) would this qualify as using a 'cheat' program? And if this qualifies as a cheat program wouldn't mozilla firefox also qualify?

This was from the terms and cond

I don't think accelerators can be considered a 'cheat' program, all because if you get Neopets Premium Dial-up Service.. well it comes with it's own accelerator. So if they offer it, I don't see no wrong in using others. I mean it just wouldn't make sense...

You mean like with a cable modem? If so, I have one and I have been using one for like, 3 years and nothing has ever happened to me.

I believe o_0 was being sarcastic. :)

I don't think using an accelerator, whether or not it's safe (I don't know how they work, so I couldn't tell you) would be considered cheating. However, don't take my word for it.

Up until last month I was on dial up, using AOL - the latest version 9. That has a web accelerator and I never had any problems with Neo and AOL (except when AOL's spam filters decided to block all emails from them).

I don't know about something you'd download, but I would guess if you're on dial up and most of those ISPs do have accelerators now, there shouldn't be a problem. It's not like you're d/l an auto refresher (those are against the rules).

The accelerator doesn't give you an advantage in shops. There's no way it can know what's restocking before anybody else does.

What I use for restocking is Adblock. I block the images of the items that sell for more than they're worth so that I only see the ones I want to buy. I never have to hesitate before clicking anymore. (Of course, by telling others about this, it makes it less of an advantage for myself. ^^;; ;))

The Google accelerator, based on what I read in an article, causes all kinds of problems on sites that require cookies. It works by using stored copies of the pages on Google's servers, which it gets from people using the accelerator. So you'll be viewing this forum, and as you go from page to page, the person you are logged in as changes...

Do NOT use Google Web Accelerator on Neopets!

Here's why: It speeds things up by preloading links--not all, IIRC, but ones it thinks you're likely to click. However, neopets is badly programmed, so clicking on links can actually change things.

If you want a more technical discussion, there are two main ways of loading pages on the web: GET and POST. Normal links are always GET*. Forms can be GET or POST, and it's supposed to be GET if it doesn't actually change anything (like a search box, for example--doesn't change anything, just loads a page) and POST if it does change things (like, say, donating neopoints to the money tree). However, neopets doesn't seem to realize that, and they mix the two like they don't mean anything.

Some examples of where they mess up: the sidebar search, shop wizard, and trading post search are all POST, when they should be GET. Removing items from the safety deposit box by clicking on the "Rm One" link is GET, when it should be POST (so Google Web Accelerator might remove everything from your safety deposit box). There are plenty of others, those are just some of the ones I know off the top of my head.

* You can turn them into POST with Javascript.

Mozilla loads the ads first then blocks it which is not effective when restocking but it does make the ad disappear and increase the fps when restocking.
