I've noticed lately that a lot of people have mentioned in their pets lookup, or petpage, or whatever, about their pet's boyfriend or girlfriend. As far as I know, this is against the rules, but I think it's odd that people are getting away with it. It doesn't bother me (though I really don't understand the point of it), but with all of the report happys and whatnot you'd think that people would get a warning, or suspension, or something like that. I honestly don't think it's worth freezing somebody over, though. I'm on the Neoboards a lot, and trust me, I know how people are so picky about the rules and report every little thing they see.

But I just wonder why people would bother trying to find a boyfriend/girlfriend for a pet. It's not like the pets understand that they're dating. XD

I'm pretty sure you're allowed to post your boyfriend/girlfriend's pet IF you're not dating them on neopets/didn't find them on neopets. I don't see what would be wrong putting, "My boyfriends pet is _____" but I can see whats wrong with, "_____ is looking for a boyfriend" because an 8 yr old might reply or something and then ur screwed

edit:50th post :)

Someone once asked if their Red Lupe could date my Faerie Ixi. Must have not noticed that my Ixi is MALE XD My reply was "Whoa, my Neopet is only 2 years old. Please contact me when he turns 18."

I meant the actual pet having a boyfriend/girlfriend. Not posting YOUR boyfriend/girlfriend's pet.

Like, a boy and girl zafara dating and the 2 owners put in both of their pet's lookups saying "blahblah is blahblah's girlfriend" or something like that.

Sorry if I confused you. XD

They probably assumed because it was faerie that it was a girl. I have a boy uni, I'm going to paint him brown, though. He's green right now, and he looks kind of girly. :P

Hehe, nice reply Lorcan :D I have four faerie pets and three of them are male xD

I don't know why more isn't done about this particular rule being broken, it seems like some people get away with all kind of obvious rule breaking - pets dating, storing not for trade items in trades etc - while people who don't break the rules get frozen for false reasons.

Methinks tnt need to go to customer service school

I know. The other thing that gets on my nerves is the guild contests/giveaways rules. EVERYBODY has a contest going in their guild. It's so painfully obvious, yet TNT doesn't even realize it. But when somebody accidently posts in the wrong board, they're frozen like that.

I don't see why contests aren't alowed, especially if you don't have to pay neopoints or items to play, what is there to lose? I guess it's the sore losers that complain that they were cheating or something like that, so Neopets decides that they shouldn't be allowed. Then they don't have to deal with guild contests.

I know. Guild contests were cool, but people always find a way to ruin all of the fun....

Actually, from my understanding from talking to my old guild leader (who's since quit Neo) after she and the co-owner emailed several times back and forth with support re: guilds and the whole contest/giveaway/motm/motw/raffle type of thing is this ...

Any sort of contest, giveaway, ftp, etc. has always been against the rules - TNT started enforcing this, not because of "sore losers", but because people were (and still are in some cases) being scammed by whoever was running said contests.

For example: person A is in charge of a contest and you have to send an item (usually with a certain np value) or buy something from a guild "donation" shop to enter. Let's say 10 people enter and all of them either send an item or buy something. Person A waits until there's enough "entries" (enough to make it worth their while), then leaves the guild with no notice, taking the items and np. This happens alot more than you might think.

Right now I'm not in a guild mainly because the few I've had any interest in all were either asking for donations (for what?!), having contests or giveaways. Some are now calling them "competitions", but the general way of entering said competitions is the same. And that, to me, is trying to get around the rules. I've even heard of one guild where you had to pay to raise your rank and another that asks for "donations" to PAY the council members!

Yes, honest guilds suffered when the rule was enforced - the one I was in did, ended up closing after that. We had alot of activities, I was in charge of a few of them. All were truly honest, everyone won at least once and got what was promised. So, I know these can make things more fun, but at the same time I agree with TNT's decision to have and enforce this as way to try to protect people against scammers.

As to our pets dating? Yes, I see posts now and then where someone's looking for a b/f or g/f for their pet. I generally gently point them in the direction of the Chat Rules (where it's very clearly written that it IS against the rules) and the TOS. It's not something I report if I see it on a pet description or petpage, but I don't think it has any place on the site. Plus, I think it's kind of dumb.

The point of dating as I have seen it is such as an attempt by one person to try and squeeze items out of the other.

On my old account from a few years ago, my pet Chibi_UsaChan used to have a husband and kids and stuff. xD
It wasn't serious or anything, it was just between my friend Luna and I. We were mainly doing it because it was fun for us to draw our big happy Acara family. <3

Yes it is. If you're dating someone you're not allowed to play neopets anymore :P
