i adopt alot of pets from the pound then make them better if there sick or train them a little etc.. and every so often i get people claiming it was theres and they want it back

my question is i dont have to do i? as bad as i feel for there loss it was there own fault right? and im not going to get banned if they report me

Nope you didn't break any rules so you should theoretically be safe - theres still unfair freezing but that's resolved most of the time

The answer to your question is as said that you don't have to give pets back. And of course if your main reason for adopting pets is to heal sick pets or whatever then it's doubtful that people will be asking for them back anyway. Sometimes though someone is getting a pet in a transfer and while no rules cover these people the person getting the pet is usually very excited about receiving it and so on (or they have owned it or been trying to get the pet through the lab for a very long time and are greatly attached) - even ppters as you can see from the adoption thread. So when you know that it is obviously a transfer pet and you get neomails telling you this then no, you don't have to give it back and no, you won't get in trouble. But I've seen enough people miss out on a pet they've been planning for for weeks to know that I would feel really bad holding a pet I knew someone else liked that had been snatched from them. But that's just me.


And if it's just plain coloured pets then there shouldn't really be a problem with conscience anyway, unless a pet is high stat or painted a great colour it's far more likely (though not always) to have been put in the pound for people to get than for you to have snatched it from their owner.

I am the proud owner of a pet that someone tried to transfer through the pound. I never got a letter asking for her back, but she is a tonu. I saw the tonu in the pound and had been cruising the pound for weeks because I like to pund surf and there she was. I put my finger on the button and got her. I did not even know it was a female pet. I liked that she was yellow. She was nearly six months old and still level one. Whoever had her before me never invested in her beyond shooting her with the lab ray if that was what they did.

Since I had been setting aside a fund to bring two new pets up to speed, Bball_fan104735 got a lot of TLC and was level four or five before any one turned around. She also had the story of the disrupted pound transfer proudly on her web page. These days Bball_fan is white. I wanted to paint her spotted (and may some day if I get the money) but I got too good a deal on a white paint brush. I did more for her than her former owner ever did. I don't have any regrets. The former owner has not dared to write me.

Please take notice of frauds. I have transferred a very nice painted pet from my main account to my backup account, and have recieved neomail saying I took thier pet. They were trying to scam me into putting it back in the pound. Out of the eight times I have transfered pets back and forth ... I have recieved seven of such e-mails. This seems like a high likelihood of a scam.

I would take any claims much more seriously if the pet was a plain and readily available pet with no great amount of training.

Gee, I wonder why. You put on your own pets page how you snatched her from the pound when you suspect someone else was wanting her and you think the original owner might write to you thinking you're nice and might try and give it back? I think not. Besides which it sounds to me like that pet was put in the pound for everyone to grab, tonus are not high in demand at all given how often you can create them and if I labbed a lab pet into a tonu I'd give it away as well.

Unfortunately there will always be people who will claim a pet is theirs in the hope they'll be able to scam you but if it is their pet they will be able to prove it with info only they could know - what books the pet has read, what their faerie skills are etc. And it's usually fairly easy to spot pound sitter/sniper accounts. I know that if I got any colour of pet, from red to faerie to darigan from the pound and someone had proof that the pet was theirs I would do all I could to get it back to them. After all if I want a similar pet so badly then I can save myself for it like they did or wait for my labs to get it like they did. But then I don't look for pets like that in the pound anyway, I get nicely named ones that sit there for ages and let the mutant and darigan pets pass by.
