Has anyone been getting small popups on Neopets? I've been getting them quite frequently, even with Firefox and when I have only Neopets open.

Not me.

Didn't TNT say once that they would never, ever have popups on the site?

But even if there are pop-ups, it's the fault of the ads on the site, not TNTs. They hate pop-ups as much as we do. If you get a pop-up, take a screenie and report it.
If TNT ever (on their own) puts pop-ups on the site, I'm quitting.
(But I haven't gotten any pop-ups...yet.)

If you've scanned your computer with both av and spyware detector/removers and it is clean and you've cleared you temporary internet (cookies, temp internet files, history) and Neopets is the only place you've been and you're getting pop-ups then more than likely it is the ads.

These aren't generated by Neo, but to me they are ultimately responsible for things like this. And I think they agree. There is a place on the Contact Us page to report things like this.

Get the name of the pop-up, if you can right click and view source to see where the ad's coming from and tell them what the ad has on it. I guess a screenie couldn't hurt either just in case they want to see something.

Yes, I have gotten pop-ups on Neo and yes I DO keep my system as clean as possible. And yes, staff does take this seriously. There have been pop-ups before and they seem to take care of them very quickly.

This has been dicussed before. The popups are either causes by evil ads that arnt supposed to be generating popups, or by adware/spyware found on your computer. It isnt neopets doing. You can blame them for allowing the banner add that sometimes generate popups, but they didnt accually institue popups.

Anyhow, the people we think of as "TNT" have no control over the ads. That's in the hands of the bad evil corporate people.

Sometimes there are pop-ups on neopets. I know for fact because my pop-up blocker blocks whatever pop-up gets generated from that page opened.

It even blocks the instant message pop-ups that happen here.

Pop-ups don't happen very often on neopets, but they do happen.

True. You should've seen me after I'd come back from a year-long hiatus--my jaw literally dropped open when I saw the banners.

The thing is, I have reported it several times, and even given the URL in bug reports, but nothing has been done. My geek boyfriend makes sure I have a healthy computer, so I'm fairly certain it's not my computer (antivirus software and ad-aware up the wazoo, that's me).

I notice considerably less pop-ups if you are able to block the banner and bottom ads.

For safari try:
http://www.floppymoose.com/ and follow the instructions. Blocks most of the ads.

Firefox has some kind of built in adblock, though I haven't figured out how block the ad completely, not just block the cookies and to block the flash ads as well as the plain ones.

For IE I have a few programs working. I think it is spyblocker that is killing almost 99% of the ads.

My google toolbar blocks almost any popup ads that I get. I still have the banner ads- but I'm getting used to them, I suppose.

This is what I am talking about--got it from playing neoquest:

What I don't get is that the top banner is a neopets banner, while the bottom ad is adblocked. Is it worth submitting another bug report?

Hmm, well I haven't seen that particular pop up ad. I do have premium on my main and I have a pretty good pop up blocker on my ISP. Though I do sometimes get notification in the Blocking Pop-ups that something did try to open.

Are you able to right click and view source? If so, look through the page and look for anything ad-related. Tribalfusion, adtmt, etc. will be there. Keep a copy of it (that's what I do - on notepad) and send that information to TNT. I'm sure it would help them track this down if they know which ad network is generating the pop-up.
