It's a scam.

Don't reply to it.

Forward it to Neopets, if you'd like.

Don't send anything to the scammer address given near the end.

Very much a scam.

#1: G-mail at the bottom
#2: People can use a program to change what you see their email as.

Indeed.

The scammer wrote:
Neopet Password(To verify your account):

That's the dead giveaway.

That, and the fact that they probably don't need to cast a net to get people to be monitors - there are large numbers of folks who've already got names and applications in, I'd wager.

As well as reporting this to Neopets, which you definitely should, you might want to let gmail know about it too. Most places will not tolerate their services being used to try to scam people. If you forward the entire email to them, including the "details/header" they may try to track the person down.

I know there's little chance of really finding out (have had real life issues with scams/phishing myself), at the very least there is a chance that they won't be able to use that email anymore.

On top of which, California law doesn't allow people to volunteer for any position where someone else is being paid to do the same work. So they can't legally have any volunteer site monitors. (Plus, even if they could, they would certainly want your last name, to say the least.)

And if you want to report the email to google/gmail, here's the contact link: http://www.google.com/intl/en/contact/index.html (=

It is fake. There are programs out there to let people mask their email address. These are meant to be funny, but people use them to scam. Basically if one masks their email address, uses correct grammar, and slaps a few graphics up on the letter, they can make it look professional enough to fool some. Just remember that neopets isn't going to mail you to have a nice little chat and ask for your password. They already have it. If they want to warn you, they will do it on your account, not in the email. If they want to freeze you, they can and will and do! They may warn you and they may not. But they aren't going to get chatty about it in an email. And they don't use player monitors anymore. If you want a job with neopets you have to go to their office.

I was sent one of those not too long ago.
And then a quote ran through my mind:
Quote:
And we will never ever ask you for your password!

yes..it is a scam..TNT would not mail u and ask u to join their team..they only hire people who send their applicaiton form to them..just forward the message to them and let them sort it out..TNT will never ask for your password..so any mail or neomail that asks for your password,do not reply and report it so it can be stopped..

y do ppl try to lie and cheat other ppl for a game? they act like the person with the more neopoints will get a grand prize of *huge sum of money*..it really frustrates me :x

Yeah, I got one of these a day or so ago. Obviously I know it's a scam, since I've seen it before, but I'll report it to gmail as well as Neo.

Gone, forever.
