In neopets magazine 10:

Q: I saw a very very old picture of Neopia. On it I can see a desert, jungle, and many other areas that would later become the lost desert, terror mountain, and the places we are familiar with today. There is a swamp on this old map, but no swamp today. I think a swamp world would be nice. Swamps aren't as desolate as some believe them to be, and harbor lots of wildlife and birds!

A: You will be very pleased to know that a swamp is going to be featured on the site and in the new PS2 game. This swamp is full of life, including the lovely Sophie the Swamp Witch.

Photobucket went byebye today but if it comes back up someone saved a picture of the swamp witch here:

OK. Lutari are coming out this summer and are connected with the PS2 game, the swamp is connected to the PS2 game, therefore Lutari come from the new swamp world. So now we know.

Well anyway, I really like Sophie. I think she is a healer or something but maybe she has a bad reputation. I kind of think she is related or knows the witch in the haunted woods for some reason. But maybe she is the opposite of Edna, kind of experimenting on pets because she wants to find cures for stuff. I can see some bad things going wrong with her experiments at times, but I think her intentions are good. She should share some of her research with Kayla though, those two would get along great I think. Anyway, she doesn't strike me as evil, just a bit misunderstood. I think she probably lives alone in the swamp and pets tell each other not to go around. Maybe some go on a dare and they find out she isn't that bad at all. I can see her letting a lupe out of a leg trap or snare. I figure the real villian of the swamp would be a trapper. I wonder what kind of neopet would be a trapper though? Probably a krawk...krawks are ALWAYS the villians...if it is a krawk I am going to scream. Why can't we have ONE good krawk?

Anyway, they do need a villian of the swamp and a trapper would make a good villian, but make it anything but a krawk please..

Actually Baltazaur would be a good villian to live in the swamp. He already traps faeries. I don't know if I could see him betraying his own kind though. I really don't like steryotypeing any pet, so I don't really know who the next villian should be.

Yes, I think in many ways it might be a bit like the haunted woods. But well..Haunted Woods is Halloweeny mostly. This place won't really have any seasonal theme. It will just be a world. Anyway, I think swamps can be scarey but they can also be beautiful in a way. I'm thinking of trying to design a swamp paint brush. I think the paint brush should make your pet look a little mutated but not quite..more...troll like or something. I really like yurbles, so I was thinking of trying to do something with them. I don't want them looking like ewoks or yoda though, but kind of more trollike or something.. I can just see the yurbles living in some kind of ewok like tree houses or something..

We need a troll like pet!

Ooh, a swamp world sounds interesting =) A pb could also be fun but think of all the swampy petpets :D

I'm looking forward to the darkest faerie plot..I'm guessing there will be a plot as well as a game...as there will be lots of new lands and lots of new stuff =) I don't think the Lutari will be from swamp world though, with all the new places that are bound to pop up on the other side of the globe it could be from anywhere. Perhaps the Lutari will even be from Talador itself in which case we could see some main Lutari characters (which would make a nice change from usuls :P ).

All sounds cool to me anyways x)

Sophie looks awesome. O___O I can't wait for swamp world, hopefully it will have nice swamp qualities instead of the yukcy, mucky swamp pictures you always hear about. I really have to keep up on Neopet news, I'm falling behind madly.

Now if the swamp can use dubloons as a currency so they actually have a use besides the semiannual Smuggler's Cove release which always sells out so quickly that no one can catch it, we might have something to work with.
