i'm not sure if its allowed or not, but i think i've thought of a great way to make massive amounts of NP. here goes...
there are a lot of slime creams (there are probably other items this would work better with, but i'm just using slime cream as an example cause i cant think of anything else) on the market right now. but less than half of the ones i've found in shops are actually buyable (<100k). so what if a group of people got together (say ten or so), and bought up all of the cheapest slime creams on the market, therefore raising the price of slime cream on the shop wizard to about 75,000 np. then, if the group of ten people sold off the slime cream in their shops for around 72,500 np (which would then be the cheapest price on the wizard), they would make a huge profit.
i'm pretty sure a group of BD'ers did that with trick or treat bags a while ago, and i dont think any of them were frozen for it.
if its allowed, i'd sure be willing to join in on it if anyone else wants to do it again.

I am pretty sure that articifial inflation is against the rules, but even if it isnt it is still a crummy thing to do. People who need those items for a quest will have to paymore and it will mess wityh your karma, not to mention it will make people upset

Uh.....Boo hoo?
I don't see any problem with it, the same thing happens whenever a new avatar is released that requires using a specific item.

Yes but when an avatar is released, the inflation is what would naturally happen because of supply and demand. supply going down while demand goes up equals larger price. This is creating this articifially with no real reason other then get rich quick. Also chances are that if one person freaks and sells theirs under the set price the whole scam will be broken

yeah... the rich get richer. thats how it works. plus, i'm pretty sure people arent going to drop 70 grand just for a quest, unless its worth it.

well yeah but that doesnt even matter - if one person freaks, big deal... if the investors buy slime creams that are in between 30,000 (the lowest price i've seen) and 75,000np, they will make a profit as long as they sell them at a price above 52,500 np. plus, most people who have slime cream (or any other item worth that much), tend to check the wiz for a good price before they sell them. plus, even if one person sells them for less than the investors... ITS ONLY ONE PERSON. thats why you buy their 1 or 2 slime creams (or w/e item is used), and sell them at your price.
this is a thing that will only work if A. the people participating have a good amount of money to start with, and B. the item is generally rare, but semi-easy to sell.

yeah, inflation is against neopets terms or something, but yeah, it is a good idea... it is harder then it looks, however... *cries at his pile of snap draiks*

you would be amazed at what people would do for Illusen, the whiney annoying one. I never ssaw why somebody would spend so much money on her, when it is well known she is passing on a considerable cut of her items to sloth ;)

Don't get me wrong, I disagree with this practice, but how is it against the rules?

Simply by mentioning this, its possible people would go out and buy a slime potion, thereby creating a natural inflation. I think it is wrong, but I don't think it should be banned.

I think that is considered artificial inflation and it is definitely against the rules. There was an item, I think it was a tyrannian amulet. A few people started a rumor that it was going to be retired and would be worth alot. Those people went around buying up every one they could get their hands on until the price was insane. If I remember correctly the people who were involved with that scheme were frozen.

Buying multiples of an item you think may increase in value is one thing, that's kind of speculation and hope that it will go up. But focusing on one specific item and buying every one you can to deliberately drive the cost up is another.

Well I've read and re-read TNT terms and conditions, and there's really nothing at all that pertains to this. So the only conclusion I can make is that it's not against rules, per se, just very capitalist. But hey. Nothing wrong with wanting more np, I suppose.

People frozen for that, eh? Hmmm, gee, if only we were to get a full list of rules and terms & conditions for things that we could get frozen for...

Oh wait, we got that, right?

Oh wait, that was a flaming pile of lying poo, wasn't it?

That's what I thought.

Yeah, we have that. Before we had a much sparser one. However, after much insulting, a petition signed by over 200 people, and one freezing too many with a spoken disregard for users(particularly Fidds, who was the user frozen for "giving items to a big cheat"(another flaming pile of poo)) by Adam himself, he relented and said he'd "get the legal team" to draw up another one.

They were kind enough to just add that we aren't allowed to sell faeries over EBay and left it at that.

Neopets still continues to freeze accounts for no justifiable reason.

If they want to freeze accounts for artificial inflation, they have the right, but they should have the common, humane decency to write down that it is a freezable offense.
