First of all, sorry for the New Member thread, but I googled the site and found nothing.

Is there any page on ppt that explains the maps and what you get for collecting them? on any other sites?

Also, I read an article that said I could get the secret lab map for 130,000. Is this way off, because each piece seems to be 40k+

Welcome to PPT! If you ever have any questions, there are a lot of us around that might be of help.

Regarding your question, Nothing But Neopets has a great guide that details the specifics of the various maps:

http://www.nothingbutneopets.com/home.php?sub=treasuremap

My guess is that the article you read about the price of a secret lab map is pretty old. The going rate for each map piece is about 48-50K. Multiply that by 9 and the total is around 450K. However, the price of map pieces is slowly dropping. A few months back, the price was even higher--back then, it cost about 535K to get the 9 map pieces.

If you are attempting to get a lab map, be sure to shop around for the best prices--there is many a map dealer out there who lures you into his/her shop with one piece priced really low and the rest thousands of nps higher than the market rate. Be careful.

EDIT: Aw, Kostya, you beat me to it!

Allright, that means I don't have enough to get it then.

However, I was handed a peice of the spooky map, is this worth pursuing based on the rewards given out?

Nope, only the lab map is worth it.

Well, except for rare ocasions. But if you're spending more then 10% of your money on any map other the the lab one.. just don't.

Personally, I wouldn't bother. The price of spooky food has dropped a lot--so you probably would spend a lot more for the map (about 55K) than you would get in return.

And, regarding the lab map, don't give up on it completely. I know lots of people who found it easiest to buy one piece at a time and throw them in their SDB until they had all nine pieces.

That is what I did. It is much easier this way seeing as how you know excactly how much you need to earn to get a piece. :)

I started buying map pieces when I had about 350k. I had my lab map in under a week. If you put your mind to it, you can earn over 100k a week! ;)

Although i bought all the maps in one shot because i saved until 200k and won jackpot at dice-a-roo so makes it 300k. Just enough. (in those times 300k is all u need for all 9 pieces.. now the prices are crazy. haha)

Just do it slowly but surely. Take ur time and u will get it very soon.

Work hard and put ur mind to it. You will get it eventually

We did a spooky Map yesterday actually and the total all up we got back from it amounted to about 9K, so yes close to a 45K loss there, Still its like the nerkmid , we just had to do that too, coz we hadnt done it before...hehe.

You can pick up some nice cheap lab maps in the trades too, I find ppl are happy to accept around the 43K - 44K for them ( just a bit under the wiz) and youll still get a full map for under the 400K.

Either that or watch the trades and wait till you see a run of single maps come up ( not full ones as they are usually map dealers) , and then start refreshing the wiz for a while, and you should pick up some nice bargains. My guess is that the Lab REs happen to many users at once in waves..., so yes I wait till I see a bunch of singles come up in the trades then move to the wiz and try and get some cheapies...

Best of luck getting the maps...

SS:)
