I myself would rather see the avatars fall into oblivion and become freely accessible to everyone, but I guess that the Neopets staff conveniently presented another inconvenience for Neopets players who just want the item and get sick of inflation.

Because that is what I would choose. I have the Eliv Thade one which is pretty nice, and one of the ones I really wanted. Others are not so hot. But I picked the extortion one, because I agree, no 50x50 image should be worth THAT much. (MSPP, Super Attack Pea, etc).

I pretty much agree with that. And I don't even use the neoboards. I just think that some look cool, so I go for 'em. *shrugs*

I voted yes. Basically I get the ones I want, the ones that are easy and/or the ones I can. I don't think it's extortion because people participate as much as they can when they want to. The only thing I would change is the whining and moaning about things not being fair to the poor. That has just always rubbed me the wrong way.

Not really. Naniwai had links to a bunch of avatars on her site (gone?) so I got those, but after that I only get ones I'm not trying to

*shrugs* Some of them I like, but I don't really go out of my way to collect them. If one is fairly easy to obtain I'll get it, otherwise I don't really stress out too much about them.

Hmm... this really makes me think. The avatars aren't all that bad. But because the staff involved items, wealth, and status so much with them, there is quite a bad side to it. If it weren't for the inflation now taking place, I would love the little avatars. Extortion aside, I do love them. I just don't see the point of breaking my back to collect them, and don't think its fair when I reach for an item and it is farther up the shelf because an avatar applies to it.

Neopets Staff has caused a cave-in. They have ripped their community in half oh so many times in the past, and managed to do it again. It is as if they are asking for people to turn on each other and their differing interests. I must make a note to myself not to do that very thing.

I do collect them but since losing my main account to a scammer (still trying to get it back) I've definately slowed down and its not so much of an obsession anymore (for example although I have over 100 avatars and enough nps, I still don't own the Elephante Suprise, Snorkle Snout or Jhudora's Cloud avatars - because I'm lazy and am not that bothered anymore). I still like to talk about them though

I don't really collect... I stoped when I saw tnt was releasing them unfairly ( cocoroller, jhudora)...
I do get the easy and cheap ones though.

I just get the ones that are easy to get or cheap. I quite like getting a new one and I was really happy at getting over the 100 mark but Im not really fussed about getting any of the expensive ones.

I don't collect avatars, I don't get the hype really. I don't go on the neoboards anyway. Some are really pretty, but I wouldn't go out and buy some highly inflated item just to get it...

I don't really collect. I get a few, the ones that are easy to get. Most of mine I got accidentally, believe it or not. Of course there are a few I'd like that I simply can't get, but I live with it.
