Thinking on your thinking, all the enemies that we need to fight are IN Sakhmet which is currently in an alternate dimension. In order to physically fight these creatures (battledome) we would need to either bring Sakhmet back OR enter the alternate reality as a crack squad of special pan-dimensional war agents.
My theory is that (as we have been told in the editorial that Brucey's War tent may have involvement) we must enter the city through one of the above options, sign up to battle, then start taking out the trash.

I think they just updated the image because it was still the old pets design on some shops
They didn't just update with an image, they replaced it with a flash map... and I hate it. Flash gobbles up my RAM like candy.

i just have to say "Oh GAWD i hope not!" the fighting isnt so bad but the temple i am SOO done w/. i wasnt able to wrap my small little brain around mapping it & i loathe the thought of having to go back in there *shudders* but somehow i dont think we're done w/ the dungeon/temple. i WILL if i MUST but other than that im trying very very hard to stay awaaaay from there. its a bad place & gives me the willies.

It's "out" already. But TNT thinks "out" means that it may or may not be up in the next 24 hours. xD Or, maybe right when they posted the news, someone got glomped in the office by a raving luna- *ahem* Neopets fan, which delayed the updating of the comic page.
