Not you, the Australian media who blew the chance games out of the water for you because they didn't want to encorage gambling in their youth.

Indeed. When I said "Australian Dorks" I ment our ever-so-vigilent pals in the media: the Today Tonight people, who have shown in their past coverage of Neopets how extremely vigilant and completely *cough* accurate *hack* *wheeze* they are.

Just an example of overprotective parenting and a current affairs program with too much time on their hands. FOR GOSH sakes as if virtual gambling is damaging and a 'virtual soup kitchen' there are more damaging things kids are exposed to in this world like real life violence and war...gambling on neo isnt going to harm them. (Just my opinion :D)

Oh the browser stuff ... well I, too, take very good care of my computer. My ISP is also very very picky about what I use - I tried the yahoo toolbar - it went insane (so did my spybot s&d too), so that got uninstalled fast. I don't even know if Firefox would work for me. And on dial up, that's alot of time wating for a d/l, then install only to find that it's making my computer unhappy.

Anyway, as to the ads. You all should know that you should not say anything on the boards, either the regular ones or even your guild board about them. I was lurking (as usual) on the BD - people are getting warnings and one person got a suspension for having a topic about the new ads.

Just thought you should know. Please be careful what you type and where you type it. Having gotten a warning for typing the word ebay on my guild board myself, I know how it feels to be "punished" for something that IS on the site. Don't want anything happening to any of you.

Man, that article doesn't have it's facts straight at all!! They're making it sound like gambling is the only thing you do on Neopets! And your pets don't go to the pound if you don't feed them, or else I would've lost mine a long long time ago.

This article somehow reminds me of Rita Skeeter's articles in the 4th Harry Potter book... O.o

Don't turn this thread into a personal argument. There was no need for the above comments, and obviously they have been removed. If you feel that something is unjust, or unfair, or insulting on any thread, anywhere on this forum, PM a moderator, global moderator or administrator about it and explain the situation, rather then starting a petty fight.

Not sure why my post was removed, as I was merely showing how incorrect it was for Val to refer to the information I gave a few pages back as "idle banter". So what was the post deleted: Defending one's self from the thoughtless comments of a regular poster? The moderating here is getting as bad as the neoboards. Don't bother with a warning...just delete my account please...this place isn't worth the time.

Anyways... Firefox is pretty neat besides the adblock thing and stuff, is has this neat tabbed pages inside the window, it's really good for organization and quick page switching. You can do the seperate window thing too.

(Right now I have a different window for each forum I'm browsing and the different threads tabbed in each window.)

I actually wanted Firefox before it was FireFox and just Mozilla after seeing it on The Screensavers.

Just wanted to say that. You don't have to get it.

Your post was removed, because it was part of a fight that happened in this topic. I am quite sure that you and the others involved, know what was posted, so I don't feel I should have to explain the fact, that you making snappish comments meant to bait other members into a fight.
And I do think you should note, that I not only disposed of your posts, but of the other posts involved. Those of other members. I do not differentiate between old members and new. Everyone was warned for that thread. I did not single people out in it until now. Just because someone has been here for months, and has 400, 1000, or 5 posts, does not make a difference to me when you break the rules on this forum.
You could have easily PMed me in this situation, but you chose not to. So I will do the same to you as you have done to me.
And I will have you note, we do not delete accounts on the wishes of members. If you choose to leave, you may do so, but we will not delete your account. If you wish to continue this conversation, PM me. And I will continue it. But any other posts made after this one, involving this post, or the two above it, will result in them being removed.

The hosts I have blocked (that are ads off of Neopets), thus far:

a.tribalfusion.com, servedby.advertising.com1, http://www.burstnet.com, network.realmedia.com

Thanks! :)

I joined gaiaonline and was active there for about a month, and I noticed they have donations through paypal, so made a $5 donation, just as appreciation - and got a "present" in return - turns out to be a donation thing they do each month

Why couldn't Neo do something like that? Have it kinda like a RiC, where the prize could be any of several *specially* made items (so that there's no 5np items :P) or a np amount (5,000 minimum?) or even a simple *plain* colour p/b?

I know I'd donate $5 every month without a second thought! Well, ok, my husband lost his job recently, so maybe a second thought ;) LOL! And I know *for sure* that my hubby would actually say it was fine with him, he *sees* how much enjoyment I get out of Neo every day :)

Neopets, Inc. is a big time business. An idea like that is simply not kosher in the way they handle the site and its properties.

That would make people even more outraged. Players will start saying that Neopets is letting us pay real money to get Neopets stuff.

Yet they have trashy ads on the site...

Anyway, premium's supposed to be the donation and reward thing, though I wish there was some way to donate as well...

Edit: Ooh, good point Qanda!
