The items might play a bigger part later on...or they are just souvenirs, so you can have proof you were apart of the plot. But it's nice to have anyways.

They could be a reward - they would become sellable after the plot and would become collectors items. But I'm pretty sure they still have a part to play in the plot, if not a vastly important one.

collectors items? meh.
booooring. at least the astrolabe should have some function.
the badge I don't expect to do anything.
why would they give us an item that functions for real astronomy and not neopets astronomy?

Heh, yeah. And then you could go "Oooh, look at me, I completed the Altador plot, heh heh!" to annoy people....

wow. :o that actually sounds very entertaining.
maybe having useless items wouldn't be so bad afterall.

Maybe the items will be need to be placed somewhere or shown to someone... like we needed the telescope to place in the holder.... might need the astrolabe to calculate something, since its description is "This device is used to calculate the positions of celestial bodies."

Just like how we needed the useless crystal in the last plot...

oh yeah!
I totally forgot that the telescope had to be placed there.
for some reason, I was thinking that it had always been there.

So that's what you get for taking a moment of hiatus from Neopets anf PPT... I've just caught up with this mini plot.
About how long does it take to discover a new constellation? Is it once a day?

every time TNT updates the news, a new constellation is released.

Yeah, I think it's more likely that they have a purpose in the plot. Collectable items could be quite boring. I don't think they'll change into a more useful item, or have any useful function other than in the plot. You probably need the Astrolabe to help find constellations - maybe it will be used as part of the clue to one of the last constellations (the hunter?)

maybe it'll be used to find the protector and hunter since those are the only ones that star mappers can't find.
and maybe we will have to find the protector because wasn't she
kidnapped?

Not quite... so far constellations have been released with the updates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (though I understand you folk in other time zones can get them the day before...)

The Club badge might be needed to enter into a specific observatory (like say on the island {top right corner of the map) where we would have to use the Astrolab to find the Hunter or the Protector perhaps?

While the telescope needed to be placed there, it wasn't an actual inventory item, so you don't need to worry about losing it, as it is rather important.

That being said, I think these items are either collectiables, or will have minor importance in the plot.
